SCAM, HARASSMENT, AND THREAT OF VIOLENCE -AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This is not a review of food or ambiance; this is a severe warning about safety, service integrity, and staff conduct at Desi Lane Topsia. What we experienced was not poor service-it was an outright attempt at fraud .

We went to desi lane yesterday i.e on 28th September 2025. And unfortunately we were the last batch, later I heard from others that they apply this tactics to every last batch customers. We were fraudulently charged an extra ₹500 on our bill for a completely out-of-context reason. When we politely raised the issue and requested the staff to verify the situation by checking their CCTV footage, they flat-out refused. Instead of resolving the legitimate dispute, the staff member responsible (a man in casual clothes) immediately resorted to aggressive tactics, harassing and speaking to me in an exceptionally derogatory and threatening manner clearly motivated by the fact that I am a woman.

The situation escalated terrifyingly when this staff member called bouncers with the expressed intent to hit and physically intimidate me and my friends. This is not a restaurant; this is a hostile environment where customers who question an erroneous charge are met with the threat of violence.

The only saving grace was the decency of the bouncers themselves, who, upon hearing the full story, seemed to realize the gravity and baselessness of the staff member's aggression, confirming that our complaint was genuine. We were forced to pay the extra ₹500 to de-escalate a situation where my safety was clearly at risk due to the appalling behavior of a management-level employee.

Desi Lane Topsia needs an immediate, serious investigation into its practices, staff hiring, and treatment of female patrons. The staff's actions constitute harassment, fraud, and a direct physical threat.

I would consider it the most thoroughly disappointing experience from start to finish at DesinLane Topsia. Booked for Birthday Celebration and that too was a tedious process to contact them first of all through phone, even when one of them picked up and asked to book it on Whatsapp, there was no confirmation from their end and kept us in the dark. And then comes the next part. We had already informed them that we would be late to arrive, and they confirmed that won't be any problem for them. As it was a prepaid buffet we had to pay first. Then the circus begins, the service was incredibly slow and inattentive. The spread was there just in front of us and we were told that we would be served at out table. Despite the restaurant not being particularly busy, it took over 15 minutes for someone to serve the food, and the staff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than serving customers. The chicken 65 was more bones than any to bite on. The pizza was lying there in front of us for 15mins waiting for the sprinklers and lastly ate it without it. To make matters worse, the portions were ridiculously small given the exorbitant prices. The last part-the worst I had in my whole life. When we were still in the middle of the dinner one of the staffs came and informed that it is closing time for the buffet. Alright we asked for 10 more mins. But when one of my friends was serving herself from the heating tray, the same staff just came and unplugged it and started grabbing it away, it was the end of our patience. As if we were having free food from them. The whole time the manager was looking at this incident staying mute. Overall, my experience was nothing short of terrible. I won’t be returning, and I advise others to steer clear if they’re looking for a pleasant...

All I can say is it was the worst experience ever. I have faced the following issues which I don't feel a customer deserves. I visited this place with high hopes but the experience let me down.

The table we were served got uneven legs. The movement was enough to make a glass of water to fall down. I'm not sure how this thing kept unnoticed. I had to call a waiter to fix this and he did it by putting a bunch of tissue papers under the table leg.

The first order was 2 beers along with a 60 ml Blenders Pride. We were served the beer first and then I saw the waiter coming with a jigger and a glass along with his shivering hands, dropping the alcohol in the floor and in his hand. The waiter didn't wait to ask whether we would like ice or soda. Had to call him again and he appeared with a glass of water. I literally had to request him to provide us a little bit attention and a glass flask so that we can pour water, which usually all the bars in Kolkata is aware of and serve without asking.

The second order was 2 30ml 100 pipers and a beer. Surprisingly, the waiter showed up with one glass containing 60ml 100 pipers. On interrogating, he said "ek sathei diyedilam". I saw no point of arguing with him. Maybe they were saving glasses and want two people to share drink from a single glass.

The waiter recommended us to try out Shredded Chicken which turned out to be a disastrous. The chicken seems to be double fried and reheated as the pieces were too hard. It was just way harder than kurkure with no sign/smell of chicken.

The only thing I found good was the french fries. The quantity compared to the price is quite good. Well, the overall experience was a complete regret. Staff service was quite unprofessional as we were handled by...
