Haldiram's is quite famous in the Northern half of India, and it is trying to make a place for itself in an already overcrowded city, food wise, which is Indore. Does it have what it takes to make a long lasting impression on the folks of Indore? Read ahead to find my views on this all-vegetarian place.
Note that this is the Phoenix Citadel Mall's food court based Haldiram's outlet's review (the trailing sentence has a lot of "'s" HAHA). There is another one which has popped up in Indore, which I'll be visiting soon!
As it is located in the heart of the Phoenix Citadel's food court, the seating inside the outlet feels quite cramped up, and the ambiance is quite okay. Nothing special going on there, plenty of seating available outside the outlet (the common shared space available in the food court). There's no table service here, you've got to order and get your food from the counter by yourself. Bigger groups: I'd recommend you to find a better place to go to, you might not have a great experience here. Anyhoo, let's see if the food holds up!
We started our meal with the Haldiram's staple, the classic Raj Kachori, a crispy puri filled with a savory potato mixture, yogurt, and multitude of chutney. It was absolutely delicious!
Next we tried the naan + paratha + dal makhani + butter paneer masala combo, the quintessential combo was the equivalent of the Delhi Standard Taste. Sweet BPM paired with buttery smooth Dal makhani was a treat! They served the combo with some fried papad, which was unusual to me at least, but a welcomed surprise, haha.
Next, we tried the Masala Dosa, a South Indian street food staple made with rice and urad dal batter and a spicy curry of mashed vegetables === Sambhar, served with chilled chutneys. The flavors were decent, not great, not bad either.
The Chinese combos were quite decent too! My dear friends didn't really enjoy them, but I liked the honey chilli potatoes quite a bit. They were the right amount of sweet, tangy and spiciness combined.
Couldn't get dessert as I thought of saving it for some other day and time, hehe. All in all, it is a solid 3.5 out of 5 🌟s for me and my folks. They need to have a better system in place I feel. That is something which their own management needs to figure out. Food is decent, service and the ambiance is not, though.

Read moreTotally disappointed with Haldiram’s Indore.
Went in expecting the usual Haldiram’s quality, but this place is nowhere close. The Chole Bhature was oily, cold, and way smaller than what you’d get elsewhere—felt like leftovers honestly.
Tried the Masala Dosa too, and the sambhar was just sad—watery, bland, and completely tasteless. It’s like they just threw something together last minute.
Compared to Delhi’s Haldiram, this was straight-up pathetic. Looks like they’re cutting costs by serving cheap quality food here and hoping no one notices.
The management clearly doesn’t care—if this is how they’re running the place, someone seriously needs to step in.

Read moreWorst almond Cold coffee I ever had. I felt like they were selling it at a low cost just to finish it off. Very poor taste. More over, slow and irresponsible service. I have been served with Lassi first instead of coffee. Staff doesn't know about the order they are serving. At the billing counter the cashier was not able to take order due to some issue and not bothering to answer as well. I have been to various Haldiram outlets in different cities, this one is...
