Poor Quality Food. Constrained to write this as the restaurant was not concerned about what they were serving.
We used to go to this restaurant many years back for good chinese food. Returning to Bhopal after several years and visiting this restaurant again was a sad experience. This place now serves so called Chinese food which is similar to the roadside Chinese food carts, at 5 times the cost. The HK special soup has nothing special except overdose of Black Pepper. We had specifically asked to make it non-spicey but were served a bowl of dark soya sauce filled liquid with vegetables, some chicken and black pepper in the name of special soup. Chicken Dumplings (Dimsum/Momos) had ice cold filling in a thick wrap. Can anyone believe that the Steamed Dumplings (Momos) can be cold inside? It can happen only if the restaurant is using frozen Momos, the packed variety, and steaming them up. If not steamed enough, only the outer layer will become hot. The staff accepted it, took back the Cold Dumplings and brought a new set, properly steamed this time. But the craving was lost by that time. Gobhi 65 was a disappointment. Like any small restaurant or cart, they had kept Gobhi Balls pre-fried, which were hard, and not freshly prepared. These were simply tossed in some sauces and served. The result was hard and dry balls with some gobhi to be seen. We showed the dry stuff after breaking the balls to the staff. They kept quiet. Lastly, we thought that Pan Fried Chicken is the simplest stuff and cannot go wrong. But it had a weird seasoning with an awkward smell. We left a table of unfinished food, stomach half filled and fully disappointed from a place which has seen a decline over the years apparently. The staff were unapologetic about whatever they were serving inspite of being shown the shortcomings. Will not...
Read moreI have been a patron of Hong Kong restaurant since the 1990s. They have always been a family favourite except for some brief periods when they had had change of ownership. Currently, the restaurant serves both consistent and good quality food. There is mich to explore in the menu and dishes taste very different from one another. The spring rolls, fortune rice, satay chicken, stir fried chicken, stir fried noodles, garlic prawns, imperial chicken, sizzler, sweet corn soup, kimkey chicken, American chopsuey...there are quite a few good dishes to suit various palates. We don't like much salt in our food and they accommodate that as well. There is plenty of indoor space and the service is reasonably fast. The location is also convenient...
Read moreA great place for authentic Chinese food. And by authentic I mean the ingredients and the way of cooking.
Nowadays, you can find Chinese food stalls in every nook and corner. Loads of ketchup, loads of soya sauce, and loads of chilli sauce are generally their way of cooking. Which is way, way away from genuine Chinese food.
Just try a simple soup from Hong Kong, and you will fall into tranquility.
Noodles and prawns are also dangerously delicious!
Prices are pocket friendly. The quantity is great. And the...
