During our recent trip to Vengurla, we sought out some peaceful greenery after witnessing the increasing urbanization and environmental changes in Goa. Our exploration of the Konkan region led us to Narvekar Restaurant, which we discovered through YouTube as a spot known for authentic homemade Vengurla cuisine. Located conveniently close to our homestay, we decided to give it a try.
We arrived a bit early for lunch, around 12 p.m., and the heat of the day was evident, perhaps due to the non-AC setup and the tin roof. However, the restaurant had fans and comfortable seating, and the staff made up for the warmth with their friendly and welcoming demeanor. The menu offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, with fish dishes priced at ₹300, except for Mackerel, which was ₹200—quite reasonable compared to our homestay.
Since we were early, our order took about an hour to arrive, but the time passed quickly as we enjoyed chatting with family. Despite the heat, the fans kept us comfortable. To cool off further, we asked for some nimbu sharbat, which wasn’t on the menu. However, the kind staff went out of their way to prepare it for us, even though they didn’t have soda we took Nimbu Pani. It was perfectly balanced, sweet, and sour, just what we needed to refresh ourselves.
When our food finally arrived, we tried the Surmai/kingfish Thali. It was an average meal not too good nor too bad, consisting of rice, chapatis, solkadi, coconut-based mackerel curry, half cut egg, salad, kismoor, and a small kingfish fry. While the it could have used a bit more salt, the meal was okayish overall. The restaurant seemed clean, and they had a washroom and a tap for handwashing.

Read moreVisited after locals recommended it but it's just an average restaurant. We visited twice once for lunch, and the second time for dinner. For lunch the taste was good but the fish fry was overcooked, too oily and almost had a burnt taste to it, still we accommodated as the restaurant was fully packed in the afternoon and such things are usual in many restaurants during peak hours. For dinner we had ordered the same fish curry and to our surprise it was more watery and had a different taste and maybe this was done so that they can serve everyone without cooking it all over again. Their prices are not justified to the quality & quantity of food they are offering, since this being the only restaurant serving malvani food nearby manaseshwar temple, tourists dont have any other choice other than visiting this place. Few similar restaurants are available near market area or beach side hotels but you need a vehicle to visit them. Small parking available outside restaurant and locations is just besides HP fuel station. Overall just an okay...
Read moreWorst quality of food and priced too much. We had ordered fish (pomfret), the fish was completely burnt. We tried and asked to change the fish after sometime they gave the similar or the same one as the that was also completely burnt. I would never suggest this hotel to anyone. If you don’t get any restaurant nearby come out of that place, but don’t go here. They charged us 400 Rs for each fish thali with burnt tasteless fish and food. Please...
