Here in Pune, what we get from Sonar Bangla is awesome in regards of Bengali Food. I have tried all mess foods and finally, I got here, where I eat the food with peace of my soul. Now if people are looking exactly for the bengali food in this city, then it would be nice for them to go and get settled in bengal, rather complaining about things, because taste of food not only depends on the process of preparation but also water and environment. I would say, what you get here is more than enough for a person to eat and relax in the name of bengali food. Also, the sweets are far far better than other bengali sweet providers. Overall, I am happy, satisfied with the taste and preparation style. Therefore, I recommend and suggest Sonar Bangla as a good and authentic Bengali Food Restaurant. Also, everyone has a different lookout and mind set. Opinions can be different. Therefore first try, check out and then decide whether you like it or not. Just don't get carried away by comments...
Read moreWe tried different dishes here. Some tasted very disappointing and some were okay. Sharing my rating below.
Starters: Bhetki Fry (2/5) -very less bhetki fish inside with a lot of breadcrumbs and coating Bangra Fry (4/5) -good in taste but fish was not fresh
Main Course: Malai Chingri (4/5) The gravy is really good and goes well with rice. But the prawns were a little hard and chewy. Machor Kalia (1/5) They made the gravy very sweet and the gravy was not cooked properly, it looked like it was made in a hurry. Very disappointing.
And Rice 🍚 with Alu Jhuri Bhaja (3/5) and Begun fry (4/5).
Dessert: Nolen Gur Roshgulla (5/5) Made with real nolen gur (fresh gur). Just ask them to serve it hot so that the Roshgulla becomes soft (mention this else you won't be able to get the real taste).

Read moreThe worst Bengali food I have had in Pune. Ordered Bhetki fish fry, chicken roll, chicken biryani, chicken dakbunglow and Katla kalia. The bhetki fry did not taste fresh and looked dull as well. The biryani was worst and they served chicken jhol instead of dakbunglow. I think they never tried chicken dakbunglow as the preparation was totally different. Also they gave us the old menu while ordering and later increased all the price saying they have changed the menu. Worst decision was to go there and spend money. The area looks like an old dirty dhaba. Flies were all around the place. I don’t know how people gave it more...
