Flames and Flavours — Restaurant in Meghalaya

We ordered Indian Veg Thali, Gobhi Paratha, Aloo Paratha and Butter Scotch ice cream.

Based on the location the quality of veg food was good. Thali contained a lot of items ranging from Dal, 3 curries, Rice, Roti, Curd, Chutney, Sewiyan and Salad. Roti was cold, and Rajma a little over burnt, otherwise overall Thali was good.

Gobhi Paratha was fine. Personally I don't like this style of Gobhi Paratha in which the Gobhi is fried and then stuffed. But for this style of Paratha the taste was fine.

Aloo Paratha stuffing lacked salt and spices. But being a Punjabi I can understand that it is not easy to make the Punjab standard Paratha. So don't expect that level. However overall the taste was good.

The service was quite good and when we ordered something extra in Thali also it was served. So no complaints on that. The utensils and serving was proper and hygienic. Ambience is satisfactory.

Pricing of food is economical. For 6 people we managed to have lunch for little over 1000.

We are in a rush. So we ordered thali. Did get a brief look at the menu. The place offered a range of multitude cuisine from indian to continental to Chinese and seafood.

We ordered mutton, fish & chicken thali, it serves our appetite.

Suggestions: saw South Indian dishes, but disappointed as only dosa, idli etc were available (as in the case of all food outlets in Meghalaya). Would love to see chettinad and other south indian dishes (especially Kerala). Also traditional Khasi cuisine like would add well to the menu.

Next time will try arabian Al Faham chicken. (Please add Mandi to your menu also).

I have had a hearty meal here after a very long time in Shillong. The food here is absolutely delicious and very very satisfying. The quality as well as the quantity is great with very good rates. I am so happy that something like Flames and Flavours has opened nearby with something different in the menu than what we get in other restaurants. I had pepper fried octopus and it was awesomely delicious and I devoured it! The staffs are very hospitable. Keep up...
