TRIGGER WARNING
THIS IS NOT SOME PERSONAL VENDETTA AGAINST THIS PLACE. WHAT I EXPERIENCED, I AM WRITING IT DOWN.
P. S. THIS IS NOT MY 1ST REVIEW EITHER, I HAVE GIVEN MANY REVIEWS, BUT THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL ONE TILL DATE.
To the Owner and Management of Apna Dhaba,
I’ve always been a fan of your food, but after the experience I had recently, I can confidently say I will never step into your restaurant again, even if I were dying of hunger.
This message is directed to the people who actually care about the reputation of Apna Dhaba, assuming such people exist. Because if you do, you need to know: even popular names can go down when arrogance replaces accountability.
On Sunday, August 27, I visited Apna Dhaba with 11 friends at 1:00 AM, well before your declared last order time of 1:30 AM. We placed an order of several dishes. At 1:23 AM, we tried placing an additional order, but your manager flatly refused. We accepted that without a scene.
What truly triggered us was the fact that our initial order itself was incomplete, 3 dishes were never placed at all. When we raised this, the manager casually told us to "adjust among yourselves" rather than owning up to the mistake. Zero accountability. Zero basic courtesy.
The manager’s "chalta hai" attitude was appalling as if he was doing us a favour by letting us dine there. When we requested to speak to his superior, that person refused to come out and face us. Later, they tried to force us to clear the bill even before we had finished eating, which made matters worse.
Eventually, when the senior did show up, his tone, posture, and overall body language were anything but professional. Honestly, it explained the poor attitude of the staff they’re clearly learning from the top.
Let me make this clear: No apology was offered for the messed-up order. No accountability was taken. Just plain arrogance and disrespect.
If you intended to shut by 1:30 AM, why take in guests at 1:00 AM? Either stick to your last order timing or stop taking in guests altogether. Don’t serve half-baked service and expect customers to silently accept it.
I walked in hungry. Few people left with a hungry tummy. I walked out disappointed and disrespected.
Sincerely, A very dissatisfied (and now...
Read moreAn Open Note to Apna Dhaba Management
There’s a difference between a busy night and poor hospitality. Unfortunately, my recent visit to Apna Dhaba crossed that line — and not in a forgettable way.
On the early morning of Sunday, August 27, I arrived at your restaurant with a group of 11 people around 1:00 AM. Your posted last order time is 1:30 AM, and we placed our main order well before that deadline. However, when we attempted to order a few more dishes just a few minutes later at 1.24am , we were abruptly told it wasn’t possible. We accepted that — the rule said 1.30 am and we were on track with rules.
However, the real issue arose: several items from our original order never made it to the kitchen, let alone to our table. When we politely brought this to your manager’s attention, we were brushed off with a casual, “Just adjust among yourselves.” No apology, no clarification — just indifference.
To make matters worse, we were asked to settle the bill before we finished eating — something I’ve never experienced at any restaurant, regardless of the time.
Eventually, someone from senior staff arrived, but rather than diffusing the situation, he discussed the matter with the subordinate and didn't even come to us to talk. We called for him to come, and he said he won't. Then finally, after we insisted, he came, and their body language and tone only amplified the lack of professionalism we’d already encountered.
Here’s what was missing that night:
Basic courtesy
Accountability for missed items
Any attempt to acknowledge or resolve the situation respectfully
What is there,
Bad tone, no accountability, zero customer service, brushing off customers, and being hasty so they leave. Ask for bills while the customer is eating food, and very bad management.
If your team isn’t equipped to provide service at 1:00 AM, then don’t seat guests at that hour. Half-service is not better than no service — it’s damaging to your brand.
We walked in expecting a good meal.
This feedback is meant to highlight what can’t be ignored. Good food is important. But hospitality is what brings people back.
That was my last visit.
— A former loyal customer who expected professionalism...
