I recently travelled to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) T2 using the new Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, and it was a really smooth and memorable experience. Since I stay on the Central Line of Mumbai’s suburban railway, I first took a local train to Ghatkopar station. From there, I hopped onto the metro and used Marol Naka as the interchange station to switch to the Airport Metro Station (T2). It was my first time using an underground metro line in Mumbai, so I was genuinely a little excited.

The entire metro station was very clean, neat, and well-organized. The escalators were super long—literally more than double the size of regular ones. I found that part quite fascinating, especially since I’ve never travelled this deep underground before. It gave a different feel compared to the usual above-ground metro stations. Everything felt new and high-tech.

The Airport Metro Station has two platforms—one side currently running towards Acharya Atre Chowk (as of May 2025), and the other heading towards Aarey JVLR. The full route is expected to be extended till Cuffe Parade, Colaba soon, which is great news. Once fully operational, Line 3 will cover major points in the city including Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Dadar, Dharavi, Mumbai Central, CSMT, Churchgate, Grant Road, and many other important stops.

The main purpose of this line is to connect both airport terminals—T1 and T2—and I feel it’s doing a great job already. It’s so convenient, but sadly, not many people know about it yet. There were very few passengers at the station. In fact, some of the airport staff themselves were unaware and told me there’s no metro to the airport, which was quite surprising! Hopefully, awareness about this line will improve with time.

The station has ticket counters and kiosks available, but no food or retail shops yet. Everything felt brand new and underused, which is actually a good thing if you want a quiet and peaceful journey.

For those wondering about connectivity:

If you're from the Western Line, you can easily switch from Andheri, Bandra, or Dadar.

From Dahisar, you can reach Andheri directly through the metro as well.

And if you're on the Harbour Line, the best interchange option is Bandra.

From the Central Line like me, just get down at Ghatkopar and take the metro from there.

Overall, I had a great experience using Metro Line 3. It's super convenient for airport travel, especially once more people start using it and it becomes fully operational. Looking forward to seeing this Aqua Line become a popular and essential part of Mumbai’s transport system in the...

Marol Naka Metro Station

Marol Military Camp

Marol Church (St. John the Evangelist)

Marol Naka ke pass rehta hoon, Metro station ke saamne."

Marol Naka Metro
