Hotel Malvan Samudra — Restaurant in Mumbai

Reviewing this on real time. Just visited this place and they were not telling me about the menu. I wanted to eat fish thali but because they weren’t telling me properly I order Chicken kaleji thail thinking that atleast when the will come to serve me at that time they will talk. I asked them to show the size/freshness of fish(Surmai) the waiter said no and went directly in the kitchen without interacting with me anything. I called the receptionist and told the waiters behaviour and even asked him to show the size/freshness of the fish. Instead of showing any empathy the receptionist straightly said we don’t show it to anyone. I became very sad because of the behaviour and also make me questioning the freshness of the fish because this was the first time ever on the fish restaurant they refused to show the fish. In Mumbai or cross the states even on the streets or small hotels they firstly shows the fish. As a seafood lover we see two three fishes size/freshness and then we order accordingly. I leniently spoke with them that this not chicken/mutton so fish cannot be store for many days and you should have showed me without any hesitation. The receptionist said nothing and went again at the reception and I was pissed of by then it started me concerning about the quality. I haven’t touch the chicken thali I order and left the place. It was very disrespectfully experience and very embarrassing moment at the same time. First and worst experience ever had. Please try to avoid the places were fish is not shown before you order it might be stale/mold. And this was the first time I was refused to see the fish before ordering. Honest Review! Malvan Samudra is one of the oldest restaurants in Vikhroli (West) specially known for its authentic sea food and Indian food. It's taste was great especially it's sea food. Good Ambiance and you can visit here with family and friends. They serve Malvan cuisine as well as chinese and others. The specialty is Bombil chilly. I also ordered bheja fry. It was awesome. They got many fish and chicken dishes as well as mutton. But when we visited the last time the results were disappointing and the taste was not good as always. We ordered Chicken Handi and ended up regretting because first of all the prices were too high and chicken handi was eventually tasteless, it was not even spicy , no salt was added to it. Before main course we ordered Chicken Crispy too but it's taste was average. With chicken we ordered wade and bhakris they we good as it doesn't need anything miracle to make good bhakris and wade. We expected main course to be tasty but it wasn't. But still if you are willing to visit this place you should take a chance. Okish food , less quantity and very disrespectful waiter. I was there today and the customer service was at its worst. We ordered chicken thali with komdi Wade and surmai thali with bhakri. 1st blunder: order comes with both thali komdi Wade and pomfret, waiter comes with surmai in his bare hand and says..u had ordered surmai..replaces surmai with pomfret with just bare hands. He kept forgetting things. We let it go When we were paying the bill, the waiter asked us, sir tip add karu, firstly it's our choice to give tip on the basis of what experience we had. We said just add ₹10 to the tip to which he very rudely and disrespectfully kept the credit card on the table post making the payment. Very bad customer service. We have addressed the issue with the senior person there. If the owner really wants to improvise he will take this in postive way and work on it.
