Café Peter is a concept and a chain of restaurants cum cafés where East Asia meets South Asia and truthfully so in all that sense; what a place to be with friends and family. I had the good fortune of being invited to their outlet in Dhankevadi by the charming Mr Rahil Jafrani, the owner/ franchisee of this outlet. Rahil is one of the most amazing, down to earth and realistic foodies I’ve come across in my life. Hot and Sour Soup- This is the emblematic soup of practically every Oriental kitchen. Café Peter takes it up a notch by adding whopper sized dim sums into it, resultantly taming the flavours into the yin and yang and let the gastric juices flow. Manchow Soup- Prevalent in Indo-Chinese cuisine due to its laid-back method of preparation; it is high on the levels of hotness index; invented by the street cart vendors of Shillong. This one also comes with dim sums. Spicy Bhuna Chicken and Sausage Pizza- Ohh man!! This one is gotta be one of the tastiest Indianized pizzas in the country! It is layered with curried kheema which is very scrumptious and a host of sausage fingers. This is an ode with a twist to the celebration of Indian cuisine fusion with its western counterpart. Creamy Spinach and Corn Pizza- If Popeye would come to pune this is the Pizza he would love to eat. This is a creamy delight wrapped in Spinach and Corn. The crackle of Spinach and the mild sweetness of the corn gives this dish an epicurean relevance to the extent that even hardcore meat lovers like me would go ga ga over this. Korean Soupy Ramen- Ramyeon as it is popularly known as in Korea is a Chinese inspired Japanese invention which was earlier known as sina soba or lamien in Japan and it found its way into Korea during the World War and post-world war era. Soupy ramyeon is nowadays a home staple in the country and Café Peter introduces this to India in a tangy avatar to suit the Indian tastebuds. Chicken Ghee Roast Steak- The ghee roast has achieved a trendy rank in the Indian gourmet scenario, its origin rooted in the coastal areas of Mangalore and Konkan. The Peters team adopted the dish to revolutionize it into a steak and that too a very flavoursome one. The steak is easy-going, juicy and infused well with the ghee roast spices. A delight to the tummy and a feast for the eyes. Gochujang Roasted Steak- Gochujang or in English translation red chilli paste is a savoury, honied, and spicy-fermented mix of condiment prevalent in Korean cuisine. It is prepared from gochu garu (chilli powder), rice, mejuu (fermented soybean) powder, yeot’gireum (barley malt powder), and salt. Now that you got a fair idea on how weighty the whole process is then imagine how scrumptious would be a dish made out of this ambrosia called Gochujang? The steak truly has a holier than thou attitude and is so flavoursome and effervescent. Paprika Chicken- Paprika is a mild red chilli pepper powder significantly low on the heat scale (also known as the Scoville scale); which also gives chicken prepared with paprika a consistent texture and enhanced taste. It offers a remarkable orange-red colour to the dish which itself is an appeal to the senses. The café peter version involves nicely grilled chicken strips generously coated with paprika paste. Khimchi Fried Rice- Kimchi, clearly a Korean invention and technique, was allegedly copied by the Chinese and the Japs who developed their own artificial processing to make similar stuff like pao cai and kimuchi. It is both a side as well as an ingredient in Korean cuisine. The Kimchi Fried Rice is such a vivid instance, where the effervescent Kimchi is used to adorn the rice converting it into a top-notch dish full of oriental flavours and mesmerising taste. Dak Gang Jeong (Yang Nyum)- Hailed as one of the best fried chickens in the world, this style of frying chicken was introduced by the Americans into Korea during the Korean war era. The Koreans took it up a notch by adding their seasonings and sauces to suit their palate. This is wok tossed in Yang Nyum sweet and tangy sauce and garnished with...

Read moreRecently visited the newly opened outlet of café peter in dhankawadi and absolutely fell in love with the place. They have both indoor and outdoor sitting arrangements and it’s a perfect place to hang out with your friends. The staff there is so welcoming and the service was really good, honestly! We tried like sooo manyyy dishes there and there was not a single thing we did not like. We started off with – Hot Garlic Fries – These are their signature fries and trust me they’ve aced the game! Cheesy Mushroom Bagel – I love mushrooms and I was soo excited to try this out, the entire filling was so creamy cheesy, and rich, the bread was fresh and the best part they make their own bread. Three pepper chili pizza and cheesy spinach and corn pizza - We tried it half and half and got this crazy combo for ourselves, and me being spice lover I loved the three pepper one more. Korean Soupy Ramen - I tried authentic ramen for the first time and liked this one. Paneer Makhani Steak – Honestly I didn’t expect it to be this good, but to my surprise, it was an absolute stunner! The gravy was rich creamy, soft and luscious paneer, served with a portion of rice, this flavorful combo was my absolute fav. Cheese Chilli Toast – Classic cheese chili toast is my all-time pick! We tried some of their shakes and ice tea and waffles too. Overall a really good place to chill, hang out and have some fun...
