I tried the charcoal dosa just for the sake of novelty and liked the garlicky flavour. The charcoal dosa batter itself did not lend a very different taste though. It is good for novelty or trying out something new. The accompaniments like the potato bhaji, red chutney (tomato, onion), white coconut chutney and sambhar were delicious. I will certainly visit to try some more items from their menu. The filter coffee was not hot enough and tasted a tad bit sweeter than preferred but was okay. They have basic seating on ground level. Not sure, but they probably have seating on upper level as well. They have some crazy menu items like gold dosa for 900 rs and silver dosa and a big 2ft dosa too.
The service was a bit in attentive as they seem to be focussed more on the online delivery guys.
The atmosphere is just okay. Parking is limited, location is not accessible ♿ as you need to climb a flight of stairs to enter the outlet. The door is kept open making the interior dusty and hot. There are 2-3 tables on the ground floor and probably seating is also available on upper level...
Read moreI had the good fortune of visiting Mr and Mrs Idly yesterday. I can now say confidently that the search for good South Indian food ended for me in Pune.
The outlet is cozy with 2 floors, totally air conditioned. Each and every staff’s objective was to make the guest feel comfortable.
I generally eat like a normal adult. Yesterday I couldn’t resist myself.
To start with, had a plate of Idly served on banana leaf. Served with 4 varieties of chutney and sambar, I ate truly like the way it should be eaten. Pour sambar on the idly, mix them well, add a dash of chutney when you feel like it and lick the finger clean. 😊
Followed by onion dosa, hot and crisp. Ksheera was supposed to end the meal. But behold, had to have the wonderful rasam offered in a glass. The rasam cleaned up the oesophageal tract very well and it helped me beat the rainy blues.
All in all I had an exceptional South Indian food yesterday night.
Kudos to Mr and Mrs Idly team. My best wishes to you always.

Read moreWe went for breakfast to this little "hole in the wall" place. The service was lackluster, inattentive and absolutely not bothered. We ordered a rasam Idli and a ghee podi idli and got a idli sambhar instead. The food quality was good, the taste was authentic, but however the servers had got the order wrong. We realised this once the ghee podi idli came (and as it was served with sambhar)
When we spoke to the server he was apologetic and decided to change the order, but we relented and instead decided to get a Rasam wada also.
Again, the food was excellent, the taste was authentic, but little did we know we were in for a shock. As we ate the wada, we FOUND AN INSECT IN IT.
Totally put off, we paid the bill and left.
This place has potential, but the management and the hygiene has a lot to answer for. All in all, a disappointing experience for a place that we were really...
