Rajinder da Dhaba: Dhaba Delights with a Modern Twist Stepping into Rajinder da Dhaba isn't just about grabbing a meal; it's a vibrant immersion into the soul of Punjabi cuisine. Forget your sterile, cookie-cutter restaurants - this place pulsates with energy, color, and the intoxicating aroma of spices. But is it all sizzle and no steak? Let's delve into the good, the bad, and the delicious:
Good:
Authentic Flavors: The food here sings with robust Punjabi flavors. Each dish, from the smoky butter chicken to the creamy dal makhani, is a testament to generations of culinary wisdom. The emphasis on fresh ingredients and traditional cooking methods ensures a symphony of spices on your palate. Generous Portions: Forget dainty bites; Rajinder da Dhaba portions are legendary. You'll walk out comfortably full, with leftovers to boot if you're sharing (or maybe not, we understand!). Vibrant Atmosphere: The energy is infectious! From the bustling open kitchen to the colorful décor, the dhaba buzzes with life. It's a perfect place for lively gatherings and celebrating with friends and family. Modern Touches: While clinging to its dhaba roots, Rajinder da Dhaba embraces modernity. Air conditioning, comfortable seating, and a diverse menu ensure a more refined dining experience for those seeking it. Bad:
Expect a Wait: Popularity comes with its price. Prepare to wait for a table, especially during peak hours. But hey, consider it time to soak in the atmosphere and build up your appetite! Not for the Faint of Palate: If spice-averse, tread cautiously. Punjabi cuisine is all about robust flavors, and Rajinder da Dhaba doesn't hold back. But fear not, milder options like paneer dishes are available for gentler palates. Limited Ambiance Options: While vibrant, the atmosphere might not be for everyone. It's loud, energetic, and not the place for a quiet, romantic rendezvous. Delicious:
Butter Chicken: The crown jewel of the menu, this dish is a masterclass in flavor balance. Tender chicken pieces drenched in a creamy tomato and spice gravy will leave you licking your plate (and maybe your fingers). Sarson Ka Saag: This seasonal specialty is a revelation. Fresh mustard greens cooked with butter and spices create an earthy, complex dish that perfectly complements heavier fare. Lassi: No Punjabi meal is complete without lassi. Rajinder da Dhaba's creamy, frothy lassi is the perfect way to cool down and cleanse your palate after a satisfying feast. Overall:
Rajinder da Dhaba is an experience, not just a meal. It's a vibrant celebration of Punjabi flavors and culture, perfect for those seeking authentic cuisine and a lively atmosphere. Embrace the wait, the spice, and the energy, and you'll be rewarded with a delicious and unforgettable culinary adventure.

The charm of this dhaba lies in its unique vibe—the fun is to eat outside, under the open sky 🌌, rather than inside the small restaurant, which has limited seating capacity. The outdoor setup is lively, chaotic in the best way, and perfect for enjoying their spicy, flavorful dishes. 🌶️
When to Visit 🕰️ The place is always bustling with people 👥, so it’s best to visit during the evening, especially in winter ❄️. The cool breeze combined with the warmth of the freshly cooked dishes makes for a memorable experience.
What to Expect 🤔 If you’re looking for fine-dining service, this might not be your cup of tea. However, if you don’t mind a bit of a wait and some hustle, the experience is totally worth it.
The Crowd: One of the highlights of the place is its crowd—people here are gentle, well-educated, and from decent backgrounds. You’ll find families and groups of friends from well-to-do households enjoying their meals. The atmosphere is safe, well-behaved, and happening. There’s no need to worry about safety, making it a comfortable spot for everyone. 👫👨👩👧👦 Ordering Process: After placing your order, head to the corresponding counters to collect your food. Each counter is usually managed by one person surrounded by at least 10 eager customers, so patience is key. ✋ Don’t worry, though—you’ll get your meal within 10-15 minutes. 🕒 Seating: There’s no formal seating arrangement. Many diners make do by enjoying their meals on the bonnets of parked cars 🚗 or even perched on old scooters 🛵 nearby. It’s part of the unique experience!

Read moreI am used to having food in my car, when visiting Rajinder ka dhabha, but on my last visit I was informed that they have a restaurant now in the basement, so we decided to check it out. It is very easy to locate Rajinder as almost half of the shops have been taken over by them in this small commercial complex called the Safderjung enclave market opposite the Safdarjung club on Chaudhary jhandu Singh marg. The restaurant is in the Basement just under Rajinder ka dhabha. The Interiors are decent and the seating is comfortable, the air conditioning warm excellent for a warm day. The place is perfect for families and has a seating for 70-80 people. The lighting was a little dim for my liking. Coming to the food we ordered more of appetisers along with coke and mock tails #Strawberry mojito was a strawberry syrup based mock tail made like a mojito. #Achari Chicken tikka were pick of the day, tried it for the first time and loved it. #Galouti kebabs is one dish, that I have always loved at Rajinder, but today it could be a bad day as it was raining. They were tender as usual but lacked the punch and were a disappointment. #Malai paneer tikka was another superb starter, it was huge cubes of cottage cheese which were very soft and yummy, With a creamy texture and subtle flavours. #Dahi ke kebabs were Golden fried(deep fried) kebabs made of hung curd and cheese, they were melt in the mouth #chicken seekh kebabs were kebabs made from minced chicken on a skewer, roasted in the Tandoor they were palatable. For our main course we ordered very basic fare of one chicken one mutton gravy along with dal makhani and Mutton Biryani. #Mutton Rogan Josh was delectable with juicy lamb meat cooked so well that the meat we easily coming off the bones. #Butter chicken was again disappointing, but then you can't expect any Tom. Dick Harry to serve a good Butter chicken. #Dal makhani was nice with lots of cream on top. #Mutton Biryani was very flavourful with an excellent aroma, served in earthenware this is definitely a must order. We ended our meal with steaming hot Gulab jamun, which were Decent. Overall we had a pleasant experience, can say for sure they have something for everyone and would love to dine in again at...
