We rolled up to Island Spices for lunch, swayed by the reviews we’d skimmed online. Walking in, though, I wasn’t sold—place was dead, not a single person around. I even wandered down the road a bit, scoping out other spots, but they all looked just as bleak. So, back we went, figuring those reviews had to mean something.
Big reality check. The vibe hit us first—smelled like nobody’s bothered to clean since day one, and I’m not exaggerating. Still, we ordered, hoping the food would redeem it. Got the prawn coconut curry and some chicken dry masala. The curry showed up in, like, 10 minutes flat—crazy fast, sure, but it screamed pre-made gravy. Taste was decent, I’ll give it that. The chicken, though? Supposed to be a dry dish, but what we got was shredded bits tossed with some random spices—barely edible, honestly. Total letdown.
Look, don’t get sucked in by the hype. Island Spices might sound good on paper, but it’s a pass unless you’re out of options. Save yourself...
Read moreI stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! My day started with renting a bike from Neil, expecting an experience similar to Havelock, only to find limited options. Fortunately, a helpful lady assisted us in calling for a bike, and a friendly guy advised us to leave our luggage at this restaurant. Despite its unassuming appearance, the food exceeded our expectations. The Coconut Fish Curry and Rotis were exceptionally delicious. The owner, whose name I unfortunately forgot, displayed commendable hospitality. To top it off, they even offered to drop us at the jetty. Truly grateful for the wonderful experience and the kind gestures of the people at this restaurant. Thanks for the...
Read moreI am a fish lover. I visited this place and waited hours for my love for fish grill. After one hour they brought me a whole fish which I chose. Out of hunger I tried pulling the fish, but it was very hard. Somehow took a small piece and put that in my mouth, I could feel the scalp pieces in my mouth which I vomited out fully. The fish was not at all cleaned nor it was cooked. Not bad place, THE WORST PLACE FOR FISH. When we visit a place like Andaman, would always prefer fish items out of its freshness, quality and taste. My food was replaced, but who wants the fish again after all the tragedy. These kind of restaurants ruin the entire mood of a traveller to these beautiful places. Hope someone helps in shutting...
