Its great that Pallavaram which is my locality is getting a strong place in the chennai food scene thanks to yaa mohaideen biryani..but when at times the biryani is over my friends and family who travel long distance call me for back up options and this is the place i refer to the for parottas and gravies...
Opened around 20 years ago they still are strong and are the goto place in this locality for parottas and side dishes and believe me the taste and quality doesn't seem to change ever..so consistent in both taste and quality..
Parottas : plain parottas at rs10 and wheat parottas at rs15 are the best this locality can offer..With wheat parottas being a must try here if they are hot..So soft and fluffy with a crispy finish they are too good..
Vechu Parotta : 15rs for plain vechu and 25rs for muttai vechu these are the second best items in the parottas..They are made to order and also made really well which are fresh and crispy and also quite filling..
Kothu Parotta : At rs80 for egg kothu parotta this might be the costliest in this locality but believe me when i say that its the best too..Top it with the gravy and its pure heaven...
Egg Varities : Omlette varying from 10rs for plain to 20 for masala kalaki this too are great in taste and the masala kalaki here is the top on my list..
Gravies : You usually get an amazing gravy free with all the items but in addition they also have a various gravies like paya, head mutton, nandu, chicken etc..On my last visit i did try the chicken Gravy(rs100) which is the same in taste as it was 15 years before..The Paya is the second most favorite thing i order here which also is priced at 100rs..These are the best gravies in the nearby localities IMO...
Though this review is a summation of my recent dozen visits in 2 odd months..My last visit where we had 2 parottas, 2 idiyappams, masala kalaki, kothu parotta and 2 egg vechu costed us 190rs which to me is completely worth it...
The outlet is a pretty small one with more of a thattu kadai kind of ambiance but with a small dining area 30ppl squeezed in..the service is pretty quick and the servers and owner are really kind and friendly...
Verdict : Definitely recommended in...
Read moreOne of the best places in Chennai to have parottas , mutton & chicken side dishes. They serve variety of Salnas which we wont get in (m)any places for the price. They serve Salana, Naattukozhi gravy, pepper gravy, botthi kulambu for parotto. On sidedish side Mutton Moolai, thalai kari, botti fry, chicken fries are worth mention. Having d mutton side dishes on pepper fry format would be altogether a diff level of experience. Am being from down south guy having tried parottas from Thoothukkudi, Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar, Madurai, this is one of the best parotta shops i've ever had and I can assure that u will never get disappointed in this shop. PS : Not based on a single visit, I've visited here more...
