Muthupillai Canteen — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

When I came to Pudukkottai, asked for the people, neighbors and the local shop guys that which are the good restaurants in Pudukkottai. Majority of the people told that Muthu Pillai canteen is having the most tastiest food in the city. Once visiting there I was puzzled that is this the hotel that every one mentioned!! because the atmosphere was substandard. There were Parotta and muttai parottas which are hottest moving menu there, ordered them and found there is noting extra-ordinary to mention. Gave 3 or more parotta salna varieties but all of them was very bland and almost tasted like a vegetarian kuruma. There are some more menus like Kaadai fry which was ok. And finally tasted the hottest selling overhyped "Mutta mass" and found it to be nothing but boiled egg gravy...!!! From some of the comments, I can read through that now the taste of Muthupillai canteen is not up to the level it was before (I'm not sure about it) but for me it is just an above average south indian mess but I don't understand why it hyped as extra-ordinary by the people in...

Food is okay, but i crave to eat muthupillai's parotta atleast once in a month because of their gravies... But sometimes it makes my stomach upset.. so i don't prefer to eat often ... But i would say taste wise very very good, the muttai mass adichikkavey mudiyathu... Semma semma.... Muthupullai one of the famous canteen since 50 years... Very authentic in flavours.. It is always open during the evening and always busy , must stand in queue to get ur orders... But worth it... enjoy eating food..don't...
