I always enjoy Palagaram food and usually the service is efficient and gracious, but I had a disturbing experience yesterday around 1:30 pm at Palagaram East with a tall waiter. There were very few customers in the restaurant when I arrived. I asked the tall waiter for paneer tikka and dal. He returned to say there was no dal. So I asked for papad. He said they do not have papad. Now, since it was lunchtime, I explained that papad is usually served with tiffin and they must have it. He said no. Fortunately a woman helper passed by and heard my request. She brought out a papad and asked if this is what I wanted. I said yes and she served me. (I am American and maybe it is difficult to u derstnad but papad is an easy word!) The waiter then disappeared and never returned to check on me. Thirty minutes later, the restaurant was full and people who arrived after me were already eating their orders. I asked other waiters about my paneer tikka. One person emerged to say it would be ready in five minutes. After 8 minutes, another told me it would take another 5 minutes. Now, we all know 5 minutes India time is usually 15 minutes. By this time, I had waited more than 40 minutes so I gathered my things, paid for the papad and left. Although some saw me leave who had told me to wait, no one apologised for me waiting so long. At least I expected an apology. It left me with negative feelings about Palagaram East because of that waiter’s behaviour and no one apologising for an inordinate wait and...
Read moreEdit: I had previously given a two star rating for a normal dining experience but reducing it to one star after their New Year Special Unlimited Buffet. To put it simply, they bit off way more than they could chew. We arrived well on time and most of the food was over and many of them weren't refilled. The food was cold. The refills did not taste good and weren't properly cooked. They didn't have adequate number of staff to serve, not enough space and didn't overall did not have the infrastructure to handle such an event. Will definitely not be going again. They boasted 40+ varieties where in reality you didn't get anything close to that. Poor experience, no management, poor service and poor quality of food, no consistency. It was not a pleasant experience.
Normal dining review:
We ordered two veg biriyanis and one veg fried rice. Both the veg biriyanis tasted different. The taste on a whole was average. The quantity and quality of the food is very less, especially considering the very high price they serve it for.
The service was also not good. It's too slow and the servers don't pay attention. When we asked for that bill, that took a very long too, even though there was only one other table full.
The atmosphere was not good. There were flies buzzing around, all over the place.
For the price, this place is absolutely not worth it. You're better off...
Read moreToday, we went to Palagaram.com for dinner, and it was very crowded when we entered. There were seven of us, including children, and we couldn't all fit at a single table. So, we decided to sit wherever we could find space. After placing our order, we waited for the food.
Meanwhile, a table that could seat six people became available as the previous diners left. I called my family to sit there, but a tall waiter rudely argued with me, saying that the table was reserved for people waiting outside. Despite this, I decided to let it go because the children were hungry, and we moved to the vacant table.
When our food arrived, the service was terrible. No water glasses were provided until one of the children cried for water. The food itself was extremely disappointing. The paneer butter masala was the worst we’ve ever tasted. To top it off, we were handed a ridiculously high bill for such poor service and food quality.
It was such a bad experience that I’ve decided never to visit again, even for their textiles. My humble request to others is to avoid this place entirely. It’s...
