Travelled around 150+ kms from Bangalore to have Biriyani here. There is no proper parking, as this is a busy market street, better to park somewhere else and walk here. Lighting was on dull side, means felt it was kind of lack of light than it should be, not sure if they forgot to switch on their main lights. Ordered the following: -
Chicken Biriyani - 2 Vanjaram Fry - 1 chicken Leg piece - 1 Pepper Prawns - 1 Water Bottle - 1 Sprite -1
Biriyani Rice and chicken was well cooked, infact chicken was really soft, but was it worth the hype? NO. Biriyani and the chicken in it clearly lacked masala and was very mild . Didnt felt the taste. Shout Out to a better Ambur Biriyani point in Bangalore : New Ambur Biriyani point in Koramangala. Their Biriyani and chicken kabab was far better. Coming back to the other items, chicken Leg was good, was soft and had the perfect masala. Pepper prawns tasted good, hardly 9 pieces , remaining and all are masala only. Water and Sprite as usual.
Now comes the main issue, I should have thought Ambur doesnt have a sea nearby , its cold stored Fish, so Why Vanjaram. Still I went with Vanjaram. Piece was VERY THIN, not sure if its a standard. Again thats not the biggest problem. Fish was not fresh. Fishes are my fav from childhood and coming from coastal line, majority of my childhood has many fish foods. When I told the server about the Fish is not fresh, he started defending it came fresh today (But not sure from where, from Chennai or local depo). And started saying 5 other before me ate and had no problem. That doesnt change the fact it was not fresh. And one last bomb he bombed saying might be the fish didnt get enough marination time. I had a similar experience in Bangalore and the server without hesitation changed the dish and gave us new one, and apologized. See we are not eating for free , when we pay for something the basic expectation is it be in good quality. But the arrogance to defend it and argue it is not good.
Verdict: Will I ever plan my Trip to Ambur for this Hotel? NO Is This my top 5 fav Ambur...
Read moreRahmaniya, Ambur. I find it definitely much better than other options. First of all, no oil coating on the leaf and hands when eating. Rice was spot on. Perfectly boiled. Soft and easy to scoop together but each grain is separate on the leaf. Light and non greasy. Mutton was tender and not fibrous at all. Ticks all my boxes. Only catch is the bazaar road being small and difficult to navigate. They said the branch on the highway is also the same. May be will try next time and make a comparison call.
Went again with a bunch of friends and the food was consistent. Same taste and flavors. I would recommend the mutton biryani and chicken kabab/65. We tried the chicken biryani and found it bland and lacking in flavors. So unless you don't eat mutton, keep away from this. Also the mutton chukka was tough and chewy. Surprising that when the biryani pieces were soft and succulent, the chukka being hard! They had other items in the menu like brain fry, liver fry etc, but we were told they are not available (that too on a Sunday lunch at 12:00 noon).
Will I go gain? Definitely. Anytime I am passing through. However, I will stick to the mutton biryani and chicken kabab. Safely skip the other options. They do what they do best. Let us now push them into...
Read moreI drove here in hot noon time all the way from Vaniyambadi as I had seen multiple marketing and advertisements of this restaurant, for long time. Google review was also good for this restaurant. Chicken Biryani i tried here. It was Zeerag Samba rice briyani. Taste was above average and decent number of chicken pieces. Given the ratings, it was not so tasty. But to specifically mention, it is not worth at all for the pricing and the quantity given. You can't be full with the briyani quantity they give for the price. People are okay with the pricing here because the audience is coming from city location. Being a local, the menu here is overpriced and quantity is less. City folks don't have an idea of what an ideal pricing should be here. Service is also average. Given all these, I give only two stars. Keep your pricing according to the quantity and the locale. You acn...
