This fish market is a real 'fish market'. If you happen to go on a Sunday morning, it is as crowdy as the Mumbai local train station. U feel suffocated by the rush.

Now coming to the quality of fish.. A large variety of fishes are available. If you ask the rate for same type of fish, for example the Mackerel/ Ayala, you would find 10-30 rupees difference at different shops. So do not buy from the first shop itself. But for fish like King fish/ vanjaram, only one seller is there and the price is also high. However for other types, the price is less compared to other retail shops.

Most of the fishes are fresh, especially the common man's fish like Mackerel and Sardine.

A lot of people sit out side the market as well as on the roads leading to the market for cleaning the fish. They charge 10/20/30 rupees based on type and weight of the fish.

The road leading to the market is very narrow and mostly you would get long traffic jams. If you have only 4 wheeler, suggest avoiding this market. Not only because of the traffic but also due to very limited parking space.

Though we get fish for lesser price compared to other small markets, I don't consider it worth...

It is one of the best place to buy fish 🐟 🐠. You may find lot of varieties available in the market. Everyone thought is like to reach early morning to buy fresh ones, but it is absolutely wrong mind set my friends. Early morning they will sellers I mean try to sell iced fish 🐟 first. Go after 8AM for fresh ones. You need to very careful in selecting fish. Tips - just press the fish in middle - it should be of similar thickness like our muscle - if it is too hard or so soft then for sure it is iced for more than some days. Be careful. If it is prawn 🍤 it should be white in colour. Black coloured are iced ones. You have parking lot for bikes and cars 🚗- parking charges are minimal only so don’t park your vehicle outside the market which is not safe. Outside market you will find mutton stall on right side of market also will find lot of people sitting with knife to clean 🧽 fish and prawns 🍤 at reasonable cost. To clean 1kg fish or 🍤 prawn they charge 30 inr only. If you find my review useful - leave a...

Fantastic place to buy fresh fish.. You get fish at a cheaper price. But before you buy, vist all the shops and make sure you have seen all the shops and where fresh fish are available. There is a possibility that in some shops they mix the old fish also in the fresh fish, you will never know. There are lot of ways to identify if the fish is fresh or not. 1. Check the fish's eye. It should be dark black and shiny. If it is slightly bluish or dull then there is a high possibility that it may be 2-3 days old. 2. Check the skin of the fish by touching it. It should be. வழு வழு ன்னு இருக்கணும்.. 😄. It shoud not be dry.. 3. When you pick a fish, you should feel that it is stiff and strong.. 4. You can check gills and its colour should be like blood. If the colour is changed then consider it is old fish.. Please dont forget to carry enough money or in the bank.. Try to control yourself in buying. I am sure you will end up buying more fish than how much ever you plan to buy.. Happy buying...

Vanagaram Fish Market, located near the bypass road, is a regular spot for my friends and me. The place offers top-notch, fresh seafood like fish, prawns, and crabs at reasonable prices. Vendors accept UPI payments along with cash, and there's a handy bike parking facility for a nominal 5 rupees. Remember to bring your own carry bag for fish purchases; otherwise, you'll have to spend extra on one. Alternatively, there's a small tea and snacks shop where you can buy carry bags. The ground floor offers cleaning services for purchased items, with charges ranging from 20 to 50 rupees based on quantity. In the vicinity, you'll find additional shops and vegetable markets with affordable options. Be aware that the market can get quite odorous, so wearing a mask is advisable. Weekends tend to be bustling, and the market operates from morning till evening. In summary, Vanagaram Fish Market provides a convenient and budget-friendly seafood shopping experience.
