Vairamaaligai Rooftop Restaurant – A Detailed Review

Location & Ambiance Vairamaaligai Rooftop Restaurant is located at 910/1, HM Towers, Rahmath Nagar, Tuticorin Main Road, Tirunelveli, near the income tax office. The restaurant is well-situated, making it accessible for both locals and visitors.

The rooftop dining experience is the highlight of this restaurant. The open-air ambiance provides a refreshing atmosphere, especially in the evenings. The spacious seating arrangements, coupled with a children’s play zone and a multimedia screen, make it a great choice for families, groups, and casual gatherings.

Food & Menu The restaurant offers a diverse menu, catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian diners. Some of the standout dishes include:

Non-Vegetarian Specialties: Mutton Biryani – Well-spiced, aromatic, and generously portioned. Chicken 65 – Crispy and flavorful, a favorite among diners. Fish Fry – Fresh and well-marinated, perfect for seafood lovers. Mutton Gravy & Salna – Some diners have noted that the flavor could be enhanced.

Vegetarian Dishes: Paneer-based dishes and vegetarian biryanis receive good reviews. The restaurant also serves Indian bread (roti, naan) with rich gravies.

Service & Hospitality Service quality varies – Some visitors appreciate the friendly staff and quick service, while others have reported delays during peak hours. Crowd Management – The restaurant tends to be busy, especially in the evenings, so early arrival is recommended for a more relaxed experience. Hygiene & Cleanliness – Generally well-maintained, but improvements can be made in table management during rush hours.

Pricing & Value for Money Slightly expensive compared to local restaurants, but the rooftop experience justifies the pricing. Some diners feel that the portion sizes could be more generous for the price.

Overall Verdict Pros: ✔️ Beautiful rooftop ambiance with a relaxing atmosphere. ✔️ Good variety of dishes, especially for non-vegetarians. ✔️ Family-friendly with a children’s play area.

Cons: ❌ Service can be inconsistent during peak hours. ❌ Some dishes could be better in terms of flavor balance. ❌ Pricing is slightly on the higher side for the portion sizes.

Final Rating: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Vairamaaligai Rooftop Restaurant is an excellent choice if you're looking for a unique dining experience in Tirunelveli. While the food is generally good and the ambiance is fantastic, minor service and pricing improvements could make it even better. If you enjoy rooftop dining with a mix of good food and a relaxed setting, this is a place...

On our way to Kanyakumari we stopped here for lunch based on Google Reviews. First thing the rooftop was not operational So we had to go with ground floor.

I ordered a mutton Biriyani and my wife ordered a non veg meal along with Boneless Chicken 65. Mutton Biriyani was good(not awesome)even though it had only two mutton pieces, but the meal was an utter disappointed the just served some rice along with 3 non veg gravies and one veg curry which costed us Rs.125 just for rice and gravy thts way too much. Now let's come to the service, there enough bearers but non was attending us we had to call out to each bearer that passed by us but non came up we weren't served water they brought the Biriyani with no sides and for meal we had to explicitly ask for rasam and curd.

I think there too many people but non of them no what exactly needs to done. I have seen far bigger restaurants operating with 3-4 bearers and yet keeping the customers happy.

Based on my experience I wouldn't suggest this restaurant to anyone its not because of food but for the terrible service they offered. To people reading my review if you are looking for Biriyani you can stop here and if you are looking for a meal then there are few other local spots nearyby which i you can...

I have been a frequent visitor to Vairamaligai Rooftop Restaurant, but my recent experience was extremely disappointing. Our group of six ordered barbecue, shawarma, parotta, idiyappam, chicken fried rice, fish finger, butter chicken, and kalakki. While the barbecue was excellent and thoroughly enjoyable, the parotta and chicken fried rice were rather average. The butter chicken, however, was the most disappointing dish of the evening. The colour and texture were unusual, and the taste was overwhelmingly sweet — it resembled chicken kadai mixed with tomato sauce rather than authentic butter chicken. We brought this to the staff’s attention, but the replacement was exactly the same as before, which was very disappointing. On a positive note, the lime soda and paneer soda at the end of our meal were both refreshing and enjoyable. However, the biggest letdown was the staff’s attitude. There was a clear lack of polite and humble communication from the team, which negatively impacted our dining experience. I strongly recommend the management invest in staff training focused on customer service and hospitality. Overall, this visit did not meet my expectations, and I hope the management addresses these concerns to improve future experiences...

Daaammnnn! I don't know how to begin to describe my experience here. Went here from dinner as we were looking for some good dinner. Ordered mutton Chuka, chicken chops, wheat porotta, normal porotta, veg fried rice, veg kulcha, veg curry and orange juice. Let me talk about each of the dishes individually, to begin with, the veg fried rice came cold! Like it was taken out of the fridge and just heated on the surface inside of a microwave! Damn! Chicken nattu chops were so cold that it was like an ice cream popsicle. Mutton Chukka was actually spicy good for the taste but it was terribly oily and had less pieces of mutton in it and not worth the amount you pay for it. The veg curry tasted good but yet again so oily that it could give you cholesterol rush! Damn! The porotas was actually good and so was the kulcha! That's the only good side to it. The service was alright, but I felt the customers inside the AC hall got better service while we sat in the non AC area. Overall, I would not recommend this place as the price you pay and the food quality you get are no match! Damn!

This is not exactly the rooftop experience but the A/C restaurant in the ground floor. After being suggested by several of my travel and foodie network, got a chance to experience a lunch with my family while travelling from Thiruchendur to Tirunelveli. Food - decent regular tasting biriyani with less interesting sides for non veg meals. Only item which stood out was the nattu kozhi roast which was made with coconut oil but that lacks quantity. This dish is strictly for one person only and cannot be shared sumptuously with another. Parotta was old and not freshly made. Service - we were not provided with a menu card and didn’t got better suggestions and recommendations to order. I had to use insights from my friends to order. Inspite of these the food got delivered bit swiftly - all together. May be I was into this place with high expectations and also to note this is just a first and one of experience with which I do not want to judge regular dining experience. I’ll try once in the chennai branch and hopefully it should be better.
