I visited Calicut Kitchen for lunch and ordered chicken alpharm Mandhi with Kottayam Achayan beef fry. I also took a chicken biryani parcel for later. The restaurant is located in a convenient spot with ample car parking space. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with comfortable seating and calm atmosphere.
The chicken alpharm Mandhi was the highlight of my meal which was just okay. The alpharm was delicious, it added a rich and nutty flavor to the dish. The portion size was generous and filling
The Kottayam Achayan beef fry was also good, but not exceptional. The beef was well-cooked and seasoned, but lacked the wow factor. The preparation was with generous quantity of coconut pieces and green chilli.
The chicken biryani parcel was decent, but not remarkable. The rice was aromatic and colorful, but a bit dry. The dish came with raita and pickle, which were average
Overall, I had a good experience at Calicut Kitchen. The service was prompt and courteous, and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend this place for a family visit, especially for the chicken alpharm Mandhi. I would rate this restaurant 3.5 out of 5 stars, which is only based on what I had. They have various dishes in their menu to satisfy the custamar.
Actually this restaurant located in a very convenient place with ample parking space. There were no prper sign boards in the approaching roads or which is not...
Read moreAfter three visits (yes, I tried to give them a fair chance), I can confidently say Calicut Kitchen has mastered the art of disappointment. The food? It’s like a hyped-up movie that turns out to be just okay—watchable, but not worth the ticket price.
Now, let’s talk about the service, or should I say the lack of it. The staff treat you with a level of indifference usually reserved for expired coupons. Forget being a valued customer; you’re made to feel like an unwelcome guest crashing their private party. The delay in taking orders was so long that I began to wonder if they were growing the rice or fishing for the seafood in real time.
And here’s the cherry on this bitter cake: their expressions. Not a single smile, not even a polite nod. A little warmth and courtesy could have made the mediocre food palatable. Instead, their cold demeanor makes you feel like you’re begging for food, not paying for it.
The worst part? There wasn’t even a crowd to excuse their sluggish service or sour attitudes.
In short, Calicut Kitchen is a masterclass in how not to run a restaurant. A smile costs nothing, but their lack of it cost them a loyal customer. Would I return? Only if I were writing a guide on...

15th September 2024 went to the restaurant and had ordered multiple thing. I am uploading the bill and the photos for reference.
I had ordered both Veg and Non-Veg items as some of us the group were fasting for temple visit.
I had ordered Veg fried rice and while most of us had the fried rice, we were late to realise that there were chopped chicken pieces in it. We summoned the supplier and informed this with the cashier but they never showed any empathy and did not even say sorry to us. Only thing they did was they did not bill it.
Similarly we had ordered 7 Lime soda (6 Sweet & 1 Sweet and Salt Mixed) but we were delivered all 7 Sweet and Salt mixed. Even for that also they did not acknowledge the mistake nor showed any empathy to us. They just did not bill it.
Sometimes people do not understand it’s not about money and it’s about customer service which is no where embedded in this restaurant.
Really appreciate the quality of the food but need to work on the customer experience.
They serve delicious biriyani. Do not recommend chopsuey & Sizzler’s...
