Located at Mukteswar, this restaurant is a true gem for anyone wanting to experience authentic Kumaoni cuisine. Parking space is limited and a bit away from the restaurant, but once inside, the charm takes over. The place offers both indoor and outdoor seating, allowing guests to enjoy the serene surroundings. The staffs are polite, friendly and courteous but need to sharpen a bit on professionalism. We had hot and sour non-veg soup, Kumaoni thali, Kumaoni mutton curry, ragi pancake and apple jalebi. Their traditional Kumaoni thali consisting of bhang ki chutney, ghee, jaggery, rice, bhat ki daal ki chudkani, aloo ke gutke, papad with rice and madwae/madua/mandua ki roti is a standout - rich in local flavors and cooked to perfection. The mutton curry was a masterpiece :- tender, slow-cooked meat bathed in a rich, aromatic gravy bursting with bold spices and with a deep, soulful flavor. It really blown away the taste buds. Apple jalebi was again a unique delightful preparation to crave for. When it comes to food alone, it was undoubtedly a gastronomic experience. While the rustic design reflects the charm of Kumaoni architecture beautifully, a bit of attention to interior decor and lighting could elevate the ambience further without losing its traditional essence. A gentle upgrade in overall maintenance could also enhance the dining experience. The tariff is on the higher side, but the quality of food and the overall cultural experience make it a worthwhile indulgence. Overall verdict- surely...
Read moreWe came across this café on our trip to mukteshwar. It is a relatively new café and has earned its way to the top at tripadvisor
#ambiance : 4/5 The café is well made with traditional kumaon settings. The lighting is pretty nice and there is both indoor and outdoor sitting facilities.
service : 4/5 Slow service. We had to literally wait 20 mins for our sandwiches and cutlets The servers are very courteous and will help you in all the ways possible. We felt that the tea served had become cold so they served us another round of tea as complimentary
food and beverages: 3.5/5 Sabudana cutlets : They were well made and crisp and crunchy. More could have been done to give them a unique taste. CTC Sandwiches : Cheese Tomato and Cucumber Sandwich. We felt that they had over loaded the cheese which suppressed the taste of fresh tomato and cucumber. You can try the same here as its still quite tasty Masala chai : Well made and quite refreshing. Must try when you are here Arabica black coffee : They had really good artisanal coffee collection. I had chosen the one which did not need milk. The taste was excellent and you should definitely try the same when you are here.
value for money : 3.5/5 It is quite cheap and cost for two people will not exceed 400 rs even for a hearty meal. It is one of the better constructed cafe along the mukteshar road. However, we felt that much more can be done in the food area especially for the premium it charges vis-a-vis...
