We had heard very great things about Travel cafe both on travel sites as well as from acquaintances. Well... we happened to visit this quaint little gem nestled right opposite to the famed Saint Mary's Church on the 26th of March, 2022.. The place lies on the way from Lansdowne to the Tip in Top spot and is run by a charming and extremely hardworking young couple, Amit and Shipra...The cafe exudes an old world charm and houses an array of antiquities (an L.P. and vinyl records to name a few!!!!)!, books, board games and souvenirs... Sitting options range from sofa to bean bags or simple chairs.. Enjoying your brunch to the old bollywood melodies or hit numbers by Beatles or Rolling Stone while basking in the stupendous view of majestic Himalayas is truly a once in a lifetime experience..
The food is a Godsent after a demanding trek or a long day of sightseeing or even for satisfying the small hungers your kids would love to douse while having great time..The quality and variety in eating options is nothing less than impressive !! We ended up over eating with Maggi, grilled sandwitches, in house baked delicious pizza and coffee. Each one of the items was great..
One would invariably find a smiling Amit or Shipra right at your table asking you politely about your travel plans or sharing their own experience in setting up this beautiful place and the hardships they encountered in reaching this stage... I, myself being an Uttarakhandi was very impressed to listen to their beautiful story as to how they left their cushy jobs in Delhi and decided to devote themselves to the beautiful uttarakhand and sharing and getting happiness !!
A big shout out for the staff as well who efficiently manage the usual huge rush with ease and a big smile...
Yes..there is usually a little waiting time before you can grab a place inside the Cafe as with each passing day the Cafe is pulling more and more tourists which itself is a testimony to the hard work by the owner duo and the great service and tasty food coupled with out of the world ambience !! However, you would be politely asked to wait with a disarming smile and Amit or Shipra themselves would personally see to it that you get a place sooner than one would expect...
My sincere advice to whosoever visiting Lansdowne.. Please do find out time to check out Travel cafe. And lastly, though we were short on time. Amit and Shipra also provide tours, treks, safaris and whole host of other activities..Contact Travel Cafe and book...

As an Instagram lover, I couldn't have asked for a better backdrop. Every corner of the cafe was a visual treat, perfect for capturing stunning photos. From the rustic furniture to the intricate details, it was a paradise for those seeking Instagram-worthy shots.
What impressed me even more was the cafe's commitment to sustainability. It was heartwarming to see their eco-friendly practices in action. Read morePoor Service: The staff was extremely inattentive. It took a long time just to get their attention, and we had to repeatedly ask for basic things like water, tissue, and cutlery. It seemed like they were understaffed or simply not trained to provide even minimal hospitality.
Food Quality: The food was a big letdown. It was bland, served cold, and lacked both flavor and proper presentation. Even the dishes listed as their “signature items” were unimpressive and felt like they had been prepared in haste.
Cleanliness & Comfort: The hygiene was below average. Tables were not cleaned properly before being assigned, and when we requested to adjust a chair to seat our child comfortably, we were denied. The staff said we were not allowed to change the chair/table setup, which made our dining experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
Ambience: The ambience is very average and does not live up to the hype. It seemed more focused on showing off past fame than offering any current quality or atmosphere.
Overpriced: Prices were unjustifiably high. Given the quality of food, service, and overall experience, the pricing felt like a complete mismatch. Not at all value for money.
Unprofessional Behavior: When we tried to share our concerns with the staff, they were dismissive and did not seem interested in listening or improving. The attitude was indifferent and unprofessional throughout.
Misleading Image: They have written names of celebrities on chairs, probably to give the impression that they are a well-known and iconic restaurant in Lansdowne. But unfortunately, the reality is far from that image.
Self-Service with Attitude: Strangely, no one comes to take your order at the table. You have to go up yourself and give your order to a lady at the counter who was extremely rude and unprofessional. It felt more like dealing with someone doing you a favor than a...
