We had heard very great things about Travel cafe both on travel sites as well as from acquaintances. Well... we happened to visit this quaint little gem nestled right opposite to the famed Saint Mary's Church on the 26th of March, 2022.. The place lies on the way from Lansdowne to the Tip in Top spot and is run by a charming and extremely hardworking young couple, Amit and Shipra...The cafe exudes an old world charm and houses an array of antiquities (an L.P. and vinyl records to name a few!!!!)!, books, board games and souvenirs... Sitting options range from sofa to bean bags or simple chairs.. Enjoying your brunch to the old bollywood melodies or hit numbers by Beatles or Rolling Stone while basking in the stupendous view of majestic Himalayas is truly a once in a lifetime experience..

The food is a Godsent after a demanding trek or a long day of sightseeing or even for satisfying the small hungers your kids would love to douse while having great time..The quality and variety in eating options is nothing less than impressive !! We ended up over eating with Maggi, grilled sandwitches, in house baked delicious pizza and coffee. Each one of the items was great..

One would invariably find a smiling Amit or Shipra right at your table asking you politely about your travel plans or sharing their own experience in setting up this beautiful place and the hardships they encountered in reaching this stage... I, myself being an Uttarakhandi was very impressed to listen to their beautiful story as to how they left their cushy jobs in Delhi and decided to devote themselves to the beautiful uttarakhand and sharing and getting happiness !!

A big shout out for the staff as well who efficiently manage the usual huge rush with ease and a big smile...

Yes..there is usually a little waiting time before you can grab a place inside the Cafe as with each passing day the Cafe is pulling more and more tourists which itself is a testimony to the hard work by the owner duo and the great service and tasty food coupled with out of the world ambience !! However, you would be politely asked to wait with a disarming smile and Amit or Shipra themselves would personally see to it that you get a place sooner than one would expect...

My sincere advice to whosoever visiting Lansdowne.. Please do find out time to check out Travel cafe. And lastly, though we were short on time. Amit and Shipra also provide tours, treks, safaris and whole host of other activities..Contact Travel Cafe and book...

I recently stumbled upon a hidden gem in the hills of Lansdowne, Uttarakhand—a charming cafe that left me enchanted! With its breathtaking location and eco-friendly practices, it was truly a delightful experience.

Nestled amidst nature's beauty, this cafe was a sight to behold. Its tasteful decor, adorned with antique treasures, created an ambiance that transported me to a bygone era. And the best part? Many of these exquisite items were available for purchase, adding a touch of antiquity to my visit.

As an Instagram lover, I couldn't have asked for a better backdrop. Every corner of the cafe was a visual treat, perfect for capturing stunning photos. From the rustic furniture to the intricate details, it was a paradise for those seeking Instagram-worthy shots.

What impressed me even more was the cafe's commitment to sustainability. It was heartwarming to see their eco-friendly practices in action. The cafe took great strides in minimizing waste and eliminating the use of plastic. It was refreshing to enjoy a meal knowing that my dining experience was in harmony with the environment.

The friendly owners and staff added to the cafe's charm. Their warm hospitality and genuine care made me feel like a valued guest. It's always a pleasure to interact with passionate individuals who take pride in their eco-conscious establishment.

Now, let's talk about the food—the icing on the cake! The menu featured a tantalizing array of dishes, catering to various tastes. From local specialties to international delights, each bite was a burst of flavors. It was evident that the chefs infused their creations with love and attention, resulting in a memorable culinary experience.

In summary, this hilltop oasis in Lansdowne is a must-visit. Its stunning location, enchanting decor, eco-friendly practices, and delectable food make it a standout destination. Whether you're seeking natural beauty, Instagrammable moments, or a guilt-free dining experience, this cafe has it all. Don't miss out on this wonderful slice...

Poor Service: The staff was extremely inattentive. It took a long time just to get their attention, and we had to repeatedly ask for basic things like water, tissue, and cutlery. It seemed like they were understaffed or simply not trained to provide even minimal hospitality.

Food Quality: The food was a big letdown. It was bland, served cold, and lacked both flavor and proper presentation. Even the dishes listed as their “signature items” were unimpressive and felt like they had been prepared in haste.

Cleanliness & Comfort: The hygiene was below average. Tables were not cleaned properly before being assigned, and when we requested to adjust a chair to seat our child comfortably, we were denied. The staff said we were not allowed to change the chair/table setup, which made our dining experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming.

Ambience: The ambience is very average and does not live up to the hype. It seemed more focused on showing off past fame than offering any current quality or atmosphere.

Overpriced: Prices were unjustifiably high. Given the quality of food, service, and overall experience, the pricing felt like a complete mismatch. Not at all value for money.

Unprofessional Behavior: When we tried to share our concerns with the staff, they were dismissive and did not seem interested in listening or improving. The attitude was indifferent and unprofessional throughout.

Misleading Image: They have written names of celebrities on chairs, probably to give the impression that they are a well-known and iconic restaurant in Lansdowne. But unfortunately, the reality is far from that image.

Self-Service with Attitude: Strangely, no one comes to take your order at the table. You have to go up yourself and give your order to a lady at the counter who was extremely rude and unprofessional. It felt more like dealing with someone doing you a favor than a...

Picture this: A rustic cafe perched atop a mountain, overlooking the majestic Himalayas. It's like someone took your grandma's attic, sprinkled in some hipster vibes, and plopped it on top of the world. Retro? Check. Antique? Double-check. Books to read? Triple-check. It's so Instagram-worthy, your phone might just grow legs and take selfies on its own. But wait, there's a catch! You gotta book ahead, especially on weekends. Otherwise, you might find yourself in a queue longer than your last Netflix binge. Trust me, it's worth the planning. Now, let's talk food. I chatted with Kshipra, the multitasking marvel running this joint. Asked her about their specialty, and she hit me with the classic "everything's special" line. Spoiler alert: She wasn't kidding. We dove into a feast fit for a yeti: fish and chips (so nice, we ordered it twice), sausage sandwich, veg pizza, coffee, chai, wrap, and aglio olio pasta. Oh, and did I mention the local Himalayan fish? Freshness level: It probably swam to our table. But here's the kicker - this place isn't just about stuffing your face (although that's a big part of it). It's all about responsible tourism. They've got tiny water glasses to save H20, half-sized tissues to save trees, and repurposed everything because, well, why not? It's like Mother Nature and your wallet high-fived and opened a cafe. Pro tip: Go early morning or evening with your squad. Pre-order everything unless you want to grow old waiting (small staff, big hearts). Must-tries: Beat coffee (it'll make your heart do the cha-cha), pizza, wrap, and those legendary fish and chips. After you've filled your belly, take your coffee for a stroll behind the cafe. There's a little slice of heaven back there where you can sip your brew, munch on organic goodies, and pretend vou're in one of the stories of Ruskin Bond

After seeing a lot of celebrity visits and the aesthetically set up cafe we decided to visit this cafe. Undoubtedly the cafe is beautiful and charming, adorned with vintage collectables. The cafe had a great vibe, at the perfect location with a perfect view and merely a few steps from st Mary church. Everything about this place was amazing until we saw the owners treating their customers. Sadly many people were turned down by her stating that they only take pre bookings and don’t entertain walk ins. Mrs. Shipra was very rude and shrewd to other people which turned into a huge disappointment for us. We had a reservation so we got the table but we saw many people treated badly who didn’t knew about it. One thing that you expect while going to cafe/hotel/restaurant is hospitality and courteous staff and that’s what they lack. Despite setting a beautiful place there is nothing good about the place. The owner has a lot of attitude, I didn’t see a slightest smile on her face while greeting me or the other guests. Sadly she was a snob, very arrogant person. Secondly the food was below average, we ordered a falafal burger which was bland and flavourless and mix sauce pasta which was just average. Nothing was at par or excellent that would bring me back to this place. I think the owners are forgetting that it’s the people/customers that hype a place and make it successful and same people can bring it down. So try to be nice and friendlier towards people otherwise I don’t see this cafe going a long way. Giving it 2 stars only for the ambiance and view.
