For those living in Delhi and nearby areas one of the favourite tourist spot is Lancedowne, in Uttarakhand. March-end (2018) happened to be a long weekend and we had a grand opportunity to move out of Delhi on a short trip and we decided to go on a long drive to Lancedowne. The visit took me to several places of common interest in Lancedowne. Bhula Taal is a must visit tourist spot in Lancedowne. The artificially developed small lake is not far from the main market and measures about one kilometer. I found that mist tourists were going to Bhula Tal in their cars or other shared vehicles. However, I preferred to trek there from Cantt Market. It is my personal opinion that while in hill one should try to trek as much as possible and that is why I and my family walked to this tourist destination. The trek is approx one kilometer which is just climbing. At one or two points it was a bit steep but overall we enjoyed the route which was full of pine trees. In big cities we miss out on such greenery and closeness to nature, so it was all fun. It is a different matter that Bhula Tal did not come up to my expectations as it was too small; the water was unclean and looked green. Arrangement wise it was a nice place-- there was boating facility, nice flowers all along and a small compartment housing rabbits and guinea pigs. Overall it was a very small place and was good to spend an hour or so because while in Lancedowne you need a place to sit down and enjoy the nature. The place seems to have been artificially developed to attract tourists. Boating did not charm me so I avoided it. Moreover, it was costly too. We sat there for a while and took some pictures to record our sweet memories. Do go there but without high hopes. My sincere advice would be you should trek all the way to Bhula Tal.. you will enjoy the greenery and do justice with your health as well.

Bhulla Lake :- It's a beautiful artificial manmade lake, dedicated to the Garhwali youth of the Garhwal Rifles who helped in construction of the lake. Located at just 1km walking distance from Lansdowne City Center. I visited here this month Nov 2022. It was wonderful to be there. There are lot of colorful flowers are there. A sitting area is present in its premises. A giant swing is also present there. A cage with full of cute Rabbits🐇, Hamsters and parrots 🐦 is also present. Last but not the least a well maintained beautiful lake with colorful paddle boats in it. Timings:- (Summer 8:00am to 6:00pm) (Winter 9:00am to 5:00pm) Ticket:- For tourists it's Rs.150/person For serving soldiers it's Rs. 50/person Imp Info:- Boating duration is around 20-25mins. Which is fine as the lake is small. Also the boats are manual so either you paddle it yourself or you can hire a person to paddle it at just Rs 50. A restaurant is also present near the lake with a wonderful food options. We tried Chilly Potato and Veg Chowmeen both were very good. Our overall experience was good.

Bhulla Tal,

also known as Bhulla Lake, is a charming man-made lake located just 1 to 2 kilometers from the heart of Lansdowne, Uttarakhand. Constructed and maintained by the Indian Army, this serene spot is dedicated to the young Garhwali soldiers of the Garhwal Rifles who contributed to its creation. The name “Bhulla” translates to “younger brother” in the local Garhwali language, reflecting the community’s affection for the youth involved in its development .

Despite its modest size, Bhulla Tal offers a tranquil environment ideal for relaxation and leisurely activities. The lake is surrounded by well-maintained gardens and shaded seating areas, providing visitors with picturesque views. A notable feature is the small overbridge that spans the lake, offering an excellent vantage point for photography and appreciation of the surroundings .

Boating is a popular activity here, with duck-shaped paddle boats available for rent. The boating experience is both enjoyable and affordable, making it accessible for families and couples alike. Additionally, the area includes a children’s park equipped with swings and play structures, a bamboo machan, and fountains that enhance the scenic beauty of the locale .

Visitors can also explore a small souvenir shop, a café offering light refreshments, a herbal plant nursery, and an enclosure housing rabbits, adding to the charm of the place. These amenities make Bhulla Tal not just a spot for relaxation but also a place where one can engage with nature and enjoy simple pleasures .

The lake is open to visitors from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, except on Wednesdays when it remains closed. The entry fee is modest, and boating charges are additional, typically around ₹50 per person . Given its proximity to the town center, Bhulla Tal is easily accessible on foot or by a short drive, making it a convenient destination for a quick getaway.

In summary, Bhulla Tal is a delightful spot that offers a peaceful retreat amidst nature. Its well-kept environment, coupled with various recreational facilities, makes it an ideal location for a leisurely visit lasting about an hour. Whether you’re seeking a quiet place to unwind or a scenic spot to enjoy with family and friends, Bhulla Tal provides a refreshing experience in the serene hills...
