I had a deeply distressing and alarming experience at Everest Base Café (also operating as The Park Café), Mussoorie, on 27 April 2025, while travelling alone with a minor girl.

At the time of billing, a staff member attempted a serious financial fraud by dishonestly entering an amount close to ₹34,000 on the card machine — whereas my actual bill was only ₹300–400. I was pressured to enter my PIN. This was not a human error but intentional misconduct, especially since the bill was well within the contactless payment limit and there was no valid reason to insist on PIN entry.

No one from the café informed me of this attempted theft at the time of transaction. After leaving the café I only discovered the act through a bank alert message. This concealment of a serious fraudulent attempt by café staff amounts to criminal negligence and dangerous behaviour.

Under Indian law, an attempt to deceive or commit fraud is punishable.

After returning home, I contacted the café management and owner Mr. Jai Mittal seeking an explanation. There was no valid response, no valid resolution, and no accountability — only evasive replies and complete silence.

This is not a mere service complaint — it is a grave violation of consumer trust, personal safety, and ethical conduct. It is especially concerning for solo women travellers and families with children.

I urge all tourists — particularly women — to be extremely cautious when visiting this establishment. I also sincerely hope that the District Administration, Uttarakhand Tourism Department, and local law enforcement take immediate note of this unacceptable and potentially criminal incident, and initiate appropriate action in the...

We ordered turkish chargrilled chicken and received a pan fried chicken. I asked the chef why is it was not grilled. He said they make it like that as it is softer. Which doesn’t make any logical sense. If you are serving pan fried chicken then say so on the menu or tell your staff to inform the guests that’s it’s just named grilled chicken. The least you can do it mention that the dish is not grilled but it has just been named like that.

The chicken was tender however the taste was not good. Won’t recommend ordering from this place.

Well the place has jeopardize their hospitality and charm due to their fame. They definitely offer a nice ambience but 0 hospitality. Clearly their staff needs basic etiquette training. I was asked bluntly that since you are not staying with us we won't serve you the Breakfast and told us to goto the shops 100m above, basically asking us to leave the premise. Well It might be the instagram hype that has gone in their head that they have forgotten how to treat customers.
