DISASTER! I mean where should I start, let me collect myself first. We entered the place, good amount of money spent on making sure you like sitting here, ambience will be a hit here. However, they are short staffed or they are not trained enough to handle a post-corona tourist frenzy bhimtal. A massive Punjabi family from Delhi walked in and it soon became a flea market. The elegant ambience suddenly was reminiscent of the sets of an old TV serial called, 'Meri Awaaz Suno!' All the waiters squandered to take orders and in this we got served the wrong egg chili garlic noodle. We were actually taken aback about the quickness in delivery of the order to the table. Though we were taken aback by the color of the noodles but then again with the theme of the restaurant being 'Rang de basanti' we weren't sure what was happening. When we finally got a waiter to tend to us, he checked and told us about the goof up of the order. We now waited and received a fresh batch of noodles this time even with an egg shell as can be seen in the picture. Chalo! Atleast it was fresh ;) Oh! Before I forget I had to change seats thanks to this loud family and the management didn't make any efforts to make sure that other guests are comfortable with the Indian idols in the house. We just left before even going through the dessert menu and had Ice-cream from vadilal vendor just outside. Phew! I think more words than they deserve have been...
Read moreI used the Lake Hill's restaurant, located on the ground floor of the hotel. The restaurant is in a fine location by the main boat jetty on the Bhimtal Lake. It's a pity it can't make better use of the location; cars parked right outside the windows of the restaurant mar the view and the ambience. Inside, the design and aesthetics aren't exceptional as well. Given that the hotel and restaurant are positioning themselves for an aspirational and upwardly mobile clientele, it's a surprise that the interiors don't support the pricey menu (think of a mineral water bottle priced at INR 100, and a cup of tea at INR 120!). I ordered a veg peri-peri burger, as I was rather hungry and hadn't had lunch. The restaurant was open, but only for Continental and Chinese cuisine. While I waited for the order to arrive, what could be more annoying than someone mopping the floor while there's a customer at a table! The restaurant also has faux plastic creepers on the ceiling; that's another bugbear of mine - faux plants and faux grass. Luckily, the burger that arrived was well-presented on a broad wooden spatula and both the burger and the accompanying french fries were delicious. This restaurant isn't for backpackers or solo travellers on a budget, so...

I'm still fuming after my disastrous experience at this overhyped eatery. The moment I stepped inside, I was appalled by the lack of hygiene. Dirty tables, broken wash basins, and an overall ambiance that screamed "we don't care about cleanliness". And, unfortunately, the food wasn't any better.
I ordered the Dhaba Chicken, which was not cooked properly. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they grudgingly fixed it, but the masala was still undercooked. The worst part? This subpar dish came with a hefty price tag. It's outrageous that they're charging customers for such poor quality food.
What's even more infuriating is that this restaurant seems to have an artificially inflated rating online. I'm convinced that all those glowing reviews are fake, designed to lure unsuspecting customers into a culinary nightmare.
To anyone considering dining here, let my experience be a warning: stay far, far away. The lack of hygiene, poor food quality, and overpriced menu make it a restaurant that's not worth your time or money. Trust me, you won't be...
