Chowman (Birati) — Restaurant in West Bengal

Chowman (Birati) offers a delightful experience with its wide range of dishes, but there’s room for growth. We recently ordered Crispy Chilli Baby Corn and American Corn Pepper Salt. Both dishes had a great flavor, but they fell short of the crispy texture I was expecting. The spices were well-balanced, and the vegetables were fresh, making for a delicious, albeit slightly soft, experience.

What stood out, however, was their commitment to customer service. Soon after our meal, we received a call from Chowman for feedback. This proactive approach shows their dedication to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. It’s not often that restaurants take the time to genuinely seek opinions from their customers, and this gesture certainly made a positive impression.

Given their responsiveness and willingness to improve, I’m happy to give them a four-star rating. The food, although tasty, lacked the desired crispiness, which is a minor issue that can be easily addressed. With a few tweaks in preparation, I believe Chowman (Birati) has the potential to elevate its offerings and provide an even better dining experience.

5 star for the ambience and for that device in the table to call someone or water or for bill. This idea is simply awesome. Very unique. Whenever you need anything, they are just a button away and the come quickly too.

But,,

One star less - Cause it take way too much time to serve our order. In fact some tables were occupied later then us and they were served but not us. After three to four times, asking for the food, we got served.

One star less - Cause there is no tast in the food. I know, many were might disagree with this point but as being a chineese food fan and tried many places in Kolkata, had to say that Chaina Town or Hatari is far better then this. I mean like no egg or proper amount of chiken pieces in fried rice, no taste in the side dishes as well. Had to make the table sauce and the curry to get some tast from the rice. (Personal opinion, maybe that was the bad day).

One star less - I always prefer quality over quantity but as i didn't get any taste here so I look the quantity, which is less. We ordered The golden fried prawn which is too short as I have anywhere else.

That much from my side. Take some time extra if you visit this place and no car parking facility but as a bus stand is just beside, you might park there but first confirm with...

TOO COSTLY TOO LESS QUANTITY

Have ordered Barbeque Chicken (12 Pcs), Crispy Chilli Fish - Basa (10 Pcs) in starter and Chowman's Special Rice, Kung Pao Chicken (12 Pcs). Review and price for each items mentioned below along with my suggestion.

Barbeque Chicken (12 Pcs) - Rs 310 - It's as small like the top of the finger. The weight of chicken would not be more than 300 gram. Teste is good however quantity is very very less as per price. Crispy Chilli Fish - Basa (10 Pcs) - Rs 355 - Not at all crispy. Outlayers was not well cooked. Teste is not at up to the mark. Too much over priced. Chowman's Special Rice - Rs 295 - I have asked for the best rice and the waiter suggested this dish. As per price the quantity is not even up to the mark for a person who love friend rice. Kung Pao Chicken (12 Pcs) - Rs 345 - I have asked for the best rice and the waiter suggested this dish. The weight of chicken would not be more than 300 gram. Teste is good however quantity is very very less as per price.

Over priced, quantity is not up to the mark, teste is not up to the mark, ambience is good, parking place is too less. My personal opinion is I will not visit any more to any Chowman. Totally...
