Delicious Taverna — Restaurant in West Bengal

How do you pen down an experience that's more of a nostalgia rather than a systematic review? You write from the heart of course! And that's how I'm going to start my tryst with this gem of an eating house. It's a moment of joy for people of Sodepur, as Delicious Taverna has made its way into their neighborhood promising a wonderful dining experience thereafter. I can surely vouch for that having been there myself.

Being a resident of South Kolkata for the most part of my life, I never really got to explore the eateries or cafés around North Kolkata and beyond. So traveling all the way to Sodepur for a wholesome lunch definitely sparked memories of my early childhood which I spent in the nearby areas. It was definitely a walk down the memory lane! Now, this hidden abode of delicious food is carefully located on the main road (Amravati More), opposite to Domino's. The entrance might not come off as all that extravagant at a glance, but you take a step inside the small alley that leads to the inside, and a surprise should be waiting for you. Soft fairy light bulbs and a rustic wooden decor impresses big time.

Their menu is quite the stunner, housing a variety of dishes from more than one cuisine and it might leave you feeling spoiled for choices. But fret not, I'll help in that regard. These are the absolute must haves as I found out :

Start off with some of their best starters such as - • Corn Salt & Pepper - Crispy corn tossed with subtle spices and served on a crunchy papad. This is just the appetizer to start a good meal. • Malai Tangri Kebab - This right here deserves special mention! Abundantly marinated with reshmi masala, and generously topped with creamy malai, this is a Kebab of dreams. Must must try!

Moving on to the heavier part: • Steamed fish in Chilli orange sauce - The balance of flavours is spot on with the soft fish adding to the much needed warmth. A wonderful oriental dish to team with Singapore Meifoon or Hakka noodles. • Chicken Massaman Curry - sort of a dhaniya chicken, but even better. This indian chicken dish will surprise you with its tricky taste. Recommended for sure! Team with their fragrant Dum Pulao.

As they say, there's always room for dessert.... Darsaan with ice cream is an evergreen combination that never fails to impress after a fulfilling feast.

Also, you can cool your tastebuds in between with the amazing range of mocktails they offer. I tried Strawberry Blossom and Virgin Mojito. Both were well made and quite refreshing.

Delicious Taverna - After i had my google research i came to know that taverna actually means a greek restaurant or cafe and they serve pretty delicious food so that the name totally justify this place. If it is sound interesting to you , just hop onto the main thing which is my overall experience -

Now This place is located at amrabati sodepur , opposite of dominos/Bata , few minutes from sodepur railway station.

Few days back i was there for lunch with my few buddies. The entrance was quite narrow and dark but the ambiance of the place was really impressive and feel like themed decor. They can accommodate 30+ people at a time.

As soon as we landed there we ordered virgin mojito for refreshing our mind and for kick start our taste buds for upcoming goodness. In starters we had - 🔹Shredded Chicken with chilli garlic sauce - In china , this shredded pork with garlic sauce is quite famous but here in india chicken is more widely used. This dish is not as spicy as it looks but yes it was very delicious , the chicken pieces were very tender and well cooked. 🔹Malai Tangdi Kebab - The traditional tangdi kebab topped with malai. This preparation is tastes almost same like the traditional one but little sweeter side which we didn't like. We prefer that traditional tastes more. what i like the most about this dish was the quantity. It comes with 4 pcs of huge pieces of tangdi.

In main course we had - 🔹Singapore Meifun Noodles - It looks very thin and basically rice noodle made of singapore stir fried style. It tastes nice and very light. it goes perfectly with chilli chicken or any fish. 🔹Streamed Fish in spicy orange sauce - We had this with the meifun noodle. A must try dish for sure cause the fish was perfectly cooked , juicy and fresh. specially the gravy was very flavorful but as the name suggest - the dish was not that spicy though.

Now its time for everyone's favorite part - I mean DESERTS - in desert we had - 🔹Darshaan With Ice Cream - a well known desert for all chinese lovers out there. This dish can never go wrong. it was a great desert for ending our lunch.

Overall the place was quite well decorated , the staffs were very friendly , food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was stunning too. I recommended to all nearby people and Don't miss out this hidden gem.

Last sunday on the occasion of Tanmay Basak 's birthday we visited DELICIOUS TAVERNA.The choice was absolutely amazing.The food,the ambience,location,the behaviour of the staffs,everything was awesome.I must say that this restaurent can give a tough competetion to any restaurant in proper kolkata.

Location: A-43/A, Amrabati, Barasat Road, Sodepur, Kolkata you can take a auto from sodepur station 4 no platform side and if you are coming from airport side then you may take auto from choumatha,madhyamgram.

Ambiance:Now lets come to the point of ambiance that was quite eye-catching.Dim lights,well decorated tables and also i have to mention that the way from where you will take entry that can be a place where your next facebook DP will be taken up.

Among all these items all the items were extremely tasty and well decorated.But there are few dishes that was quite amazing and elegant. firstly i would like to say about the strawberry blossom.The taste was amazing.The flavor was quite prominent. Next the Shredded chicken with chilli garlic sauce was another amazing creation by chef. Malai tangri kabab is probably one of the best kabab i have ever eaten in my entire life.the malai and the kabab was a great mixture and that tasted amazingly good.
