Learn moreI had the unfortunate experience of dining at this restaurant recently, and I must say it was nothing short of a disaster. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this establishment lacked the basic standards of good service, quality food, and polite behavior. This review may be lengthy, but I feel compelled to share my comprehensive and honest assessment to help others avoid the same ordeal.
Let's start with the service, or should I say lack thereof. Upon entering, I was greeted with indifference by the hostess, who seemed more interested in her phone than in acknowledging my presence. It took an eternity to be seated, even though there were plenty of empty tables. Once seated, it was as if I had been forgotten. No one came to take my drink order, let alone offer any form of menu guidance.
After what felt like an eternity, a waiter finally arrived at my table. However, any hope of a pleasant dining experience was quickly extinguished as I was met with a curt and impatient attitude. It was as if I was inconveniencing them by being there. I placed my order, but the waiter seemed disinterested and barely jotted down my selections.
The agonizing wait for my food began. I observed other tables receiving their meals while I sat there, hungry and frustrated. When my food did arrive, it was a disappointment of epic proportions. The presentation was sloppy, and it was evident that little care had gone into the preparation. The dish was lukewarm at best, and the taste was abysmal. It was clear that the ingredients were of low quality, and the entire meal felt like a hastily assembled mishmash of flavors that didn't belong together.
I attempted to communicate my concerns to the waiter, hoping for a resolution or even a simple apology, but what I received was pure arrogance. They dismissed my complaints with a wave of their hand and an eye roll, making it clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority here.
To add insult to injury, the overall ambiance of the restaurant was far from pleasant. The tables were sticky, the lighting was harsh, and the noise level was unbearable. It was impossible to have a conversation without shouting, adding to the overall unpleasantness of the experience.
As if all of this wasn't enough, the rudeness displayed by both the staff and fellow diners was astonishing. I overheard a heated argument between a customer and the manager, which created a tense atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The staff seemed disorganized and overwhelmed, but that did not excuse their disrespectful behavior.
In conclusion, I cannot emphasize enough how much I regret dining at this restaurant. The combination of abysmal service, poor-quality food, and rude behavior from the staff makes it an establishment that I would strongly advise against visiting. Save your time and money by choosing a different dining option that values its customers and takes pride in delivering a pleasant dining experience. This place is a prime example of how not to run a restaurant, and it left a lasting negative impression that I won't...

During our recent visit to Old Digha, we had the pleasure of dining at Mahabhoj Restaurant, and it was truly a delightful experience for all of us. This place is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Bengali cuisine in a clean and comfortable setting.
We tried a variety of dishes including the Ilish Thali, Pomfret Thali, Crab Masala, Vegetarian Thali, along with Green Salad, Papad Chutney, and the classic Misti Doi to finish off the meal. Every item was cooked to perfection with rich flavors, traditional spices, and a homely touch. The Ilish (Hilsa) and Pomfret were incredibly fresh and perfectly seasoned, while the Crab Masala was the highlight – spicy, rich, and finger-licking good!
The vegetarian thali was equally satisfying, offering a good balance of taste and variety. Even the side items like papad and chutney complemented the meal beautifully. And the Misti Doi was the perfect sweet ending – creamy, authentic, and just the right level of sweetness.
The service was very good – prompt, polite, and attentive. The staff made sure we were comfortable and helped us with suggestions based on our preferences.
What really stood out was the quality of food – everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and hygienic. For the price and portion size, Mahabhoj offers great value.
