Many a time I have visited this place. It is one of my favorites. This place is a bar cum restaurant. It is divided in three sections. One is takeaway counter at ground floor. A family section and a general section. The rates are very reasonable. However this is not a place for high end scotch ! But all popular brands are available. The food is good. You can have tandoori items too. One particular dish is unique and only available in this bar. That is the typical Bengali food - Mourala machh bhaja (মৌরলা মাছ ভাজা). That is a small type of fish deep fried in oil. Delicious with Beer or other Hard drinks. Also they serve very good chicken lollypop. It is served with a special pickle which is just superb. The waiters are well behaved. However their negative point is a long single stretch of stairs which is not suitable for elderly people or those who are differently able. The fl. Liquor Shop of Maharaja had worst employees, who do fraud with customers. I bought champagne and came home, but when I Google about it, I found out that it is Sula Siraz sparkling wine, although I told them at the time of purchasing that I want pure Champagne and they told me yes it is a pure Champagne. I gone to the shop again and told them that why they given this wrong item but they denied and constantly argued and misbehaved with me and my father. I also told them to change and give something else but they denied, being an old customer of Maharaja, me and my father faced such a harrasment and humiliation which we did not expected from such a good restraunt.
