You really can't judge a book by its cover, can you? This is a pretty nondescript joint, completely minus the trappings of pretension. Clearly, Team Padiyan gives hygiene & ambience no more than a mere cursory nod in their direction. This is no place for families - the place is cramped, the AC isn't switched on in the afternoons even if we're all baking inside & out, and the awful washbasin is practically in your face, good grief!!! The food is something else, however - especially their biryani & Chettinad-style country chicken: extraordinary! I wouldn't eat here, if I were you: get your food packed/delivered instead. Those two dishes are amazing, though I can't speak for the rest. Real good food, reasonably priced, though there's no dessert of any sort. 4+ is my rating for the chicken biriyani. Overall rating considering service and other criteria is 3+. The chicken biriyani is delicious. Pieces are abundant and flavoured well. Rice quantity is more than the norm. Very limited oil. Masala and flavour is just right, neither too much or less.
