This Centuries old temple is situated in the busy road of virugambakkam market. Initially I found it difficult to locate the temple as the temple does not have any Gopuram that would draw your attention. There is very little parking space only for Four or five two wheelers in the entrance of the temple.
First thing that would attract you as soon as you enter the temple would be the Small Goshala well maintained in the temple premises.Dhwaja Sthambam and balipeetam would stand a testimony for the age of this temple.
Lord Sundara Varadaraja Perumal the presiding deity is in a standing posture flanked by Goddess Sri Devi and Bhu Devi .
Being the protector of the universe God Sundara varadaraja Swami in the Sanctum Santorum is holding the Sankha and Chakra in His upper hands and in His lower right hand shows abhaya hasta (gesture of protection) and lower left hand in the posture of varda hasta (boon-conferring pose).
Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in this temple as Perundevi Thayar, and Andal are also having separate sannidhanam here.
Sudarshana (Chakkarathazhwar )and Lord Narasimha , Vishvaksena and Hanuman sannidhanam are also present here. Deepa-stambham, used in earlier times to illuminate the temple precincts, reinforces the fact that this temple is several centuries old.
A must visit shrine by all hindus which would require further facelift with little painting and necessary...
