Rustic local puttu joint. Really good and piping hot puttu of various varieties of offer. Everything is made fresh, nothing is stored and heated. The wheat puttu with kadala curry was awesome. A bit spicy but still taste took over the spice. Red rice puttu with ghee and country sugar was awesome too. The rice puttu with ghee and country sugar was also wonderful. But the drawback on the rice puttu was that it was too dry and caught the throat. Maybe bad luck with the grinding of the white rice. The place is good and clean, the joint cannot seat you in luxury or protect you from the natural elements of heat and rain, but yes there were too many delivery orders. Proves the point that taste of puttu has won the heart of many. A good place to enjoy puttu in various flavors at its best. Best visited by 7.30 am before delivery orders pour in. The red rice puttu with naatu sakkarai (country sugar) was a decent enough dish, but honestly, it didn't really stand out, which is a letdown for a shop specializing in puttu. It was fine, but nothing about the flavor or texture elevated it past an average experience. Finally, whatever it is I would go there again.

A word of warning: The portion is massive! You absolutely cannot finish it alone. Make sure you have a friend with you to share it, or you'll be leaving quite a bit on the plate.

On a personal note, I suspect the texture was slightly off because the coconut garnish seemed to be machine-grated rather than freshly hand-grated, which tends to provide a much lighter, fluffier texture that really makes...

Puttu is always my first choice for breakfast and I really missed it when I came to Chennai. Finally I found a place where I can have Puttu with traditional kadala curry. This shop is exclusively for puttu and they serve in 2 different types, white puttu n red rice puttu. They serve better PUTTU.... Don't forget to add some salt b4 you start eating. Kadala curry is not upto the mark... Still manageable. It's a small shop welllll maintained shop n they charge...
