Kaemon Bali (Tumbakbayuh) — Restaurant in Bali

First impressions was totally unexpected disappointing, I came to restaurant and asking if its already open or no since no one eat there. I ask politely if I can sit in the second floor or not, and the waitress see each other and one of them rolling the eyes (what a surprise attitude), by reading their body language and expression I decided to sit downstairs because maybe they are a little bit “tired” or lazy to serve food to upstairs or any reason but it’s unacceptable. They can say politely sorry, upstairs is close or something no? Why need rolling eyes.

When I sit down one waitress say “you can sit upstairs if you want miss its ok” but I already disappointed with their attitude.

And I ordered food which I see in instagram, it was 3 pcs on the picture and I clearly show it to the waitress when order. I don’t know that the picture I order is promotion and no idea about the promotion time. So I ordered 3 menu (which expect to get 9 pcs sushi only since I still wait my friend)

But when food comes I saw 6 pcs each menu and when I ask, why too much and they say “because its not promotion time yet, its start at 2” and I don’t care about price promotion or else, I have money to pay but why they didn’t tell me since I order and show pictures? I want to ear only 9 pcs not 18pcs. So I decided to take away 1 menu and eat 2 menu (tuna crispy and salmon crispy).

I eat salmon until finished bcs starving, eventho the food was UNDERRATED, both of this menu is basically only rice (dry rice not usual Japanese rice) with seaweed filled by crispy and not even cucumber or crabstick inside like other sushi place, the tuna and salmon is not even covered the top of the sushi 😅 soooooo disappointing, I am quite dissatisfied with waitress attitude rolling eyes and don’t even have any appetite anymore after eat 6 pcs sushi, I left another sushi and I gave my Philadelphia to grab driver, decided to cancel my appointment with my friend in this restaurant and went to another sushi place to eat with my friend. I dont want my friend eat those nonsense sushi.

Well I work in hospitality industry for many years, 2 different countries and few cities in Indonesia. I can read people very well, I understand food beverage service and quality of food. When I come to restaurants I always respect staff because I have been through experience any position in restaurant.

The rolling eyes is a big red flag to me because I know a front liner can’t show the attitude like that, it can happen not to me only but another guest too, I warn the owner to be careful with your staff attitude. It can affect to your business, no wonder if the restaurant is so quiet and can’t compete with other Japanese restaurants around in canggu area.

Price was not expensive thats why I come here but not expecting that I experienced all of this rolling eyes and miscommunication in taking order and staff blame me instead. So I really mind to pay 200k with this quality of service and food.

It is just an ok. But with that amount we paid, I feel better to go to other resto.

We have ramen, which is ok. Okonomiyaki, is ok. Chicken curry taste good (but I guess the curry flavor is standard amongst other place too). So Im looking forward for my sushi.

The roll is just messy. Its a nori. Not much in it but its messy. The sushi plate is good, yes. Then we have the crispy salmon sushi, which have no taste.

Two of our food didnt come out. Fego sushi and sashimi (i notice the sashimi didnt come once I arrived home).

But when the waitress served us inform the kitchen the fego didnt served on our table, the kitchen staff argue and didnt accept that in balinese to one another and insisted to the waitress it is out.

I mean.. your guest is still here maybe keep that argument in the kitchen with lower volume?

The waitress looked so uncomfortable and bad with the other. He is super polite and nice keep apologizing for the food when it took too long.

Oh we take away the tasteless crispy sushi, and some noris. no sauce included in the box. They serve us 1 chopstick eventho its the 2 of us. The table only have sauce without any chilli powder etc.

I only appreciate the dude who serve us. But regreting my decision to visit because of the taste and that kitchen staffs attitude. Gonna go to eat at another sushi place soon to replace my cravings.
