Warung Dewa Malen — Restaurant in Bali

This place is a scam, there is a restaurant across street with 5x cheaper prices and better food. Driver dropped us off saying cheap local food. After eating, I crossed the parking lot and entered 2nd restaurant meant for the drivers, serving local food. Upon entering everyone in there didn’t know what to do. I looked around and tried to buy an ice tea. They got angry and tried to charge me double price for tea Botol. Someone needs to make a Bali scam video about this place. In the scam warung , we ordered nasi , 1 pizza, pasta and 3 ice tea 1 fruit drink. After 17% tax was added on (we didn’t know it would be) it was 600k idr. Pizza was dry and generic, pasta was small portion , lemon grass ice tea tasted like tea botol . Place was full of sheep tourists being led to the shearing. Worst...

Summary: Good food presentation, friendly service, and nice photo taking surroundings.

Taste: Ordered a lot of different varieties and set meals with drinks. Basically, it is good and worth the try, not the fantastic level. Drinks are pretty normal.

Value: It is on the high side, but it comes with good rice paddy view and photo taking set-ups (heart shape & rain drop shape) bench. A more mid-scale eatery, if you have already tried bali authentic warung.

Service: Basic, but friendly.

Worth it? It would be can try, depends if you are looking at a mid-scale location. But if you are on budget or looking for more authentic food, this will be on...

Overpriced. Unfriendly staff. Low value for money. My bill was 280,000 Rp and had to pay an additional 58,000 Rp in tax and service charge (even though the service was terrible).

My Indonesia tour guide who was a customer with me today at this restaurant was asked not to use the restaurants toilets and that it was reserved for “tourists”.

This is how they treat their customers it seems.

The place is very touristy and they take seem to fully take advantage of this.

There are hundreds of restaurants in Ubud that are many times better than this one with friendly staff and reasonable prices. Please support those restaurants instead...
