Best sunda-java restaurant ever Totally recommend to dine here. They have two branch, this branch is on the same direction if you want to go back to Jakarta, so you can stop by here before leaving Bandung and without having to take a round trip with all the traffic.
Parking spot are actually spacious, but because they are always crowded, it's never enough. Came here twice during weekend for dinner and lunch, and always waiting list , but probably take around 15-30 minutes of waiting, since the place is spacious and has a lot of table, so customer coming in out fast, If you came here, immediately look for the waitress and ask to put your name, dont wait around without putting your name.
This place is very crowded, but For me they do accommodate children, has fish pond for attraction, service and food coming out fast. They still are friendly despite crowded and overwhelming.
Food no complain at all, The best so far is the terong raos, I mean, the price is very affordable, has 6-8 cuts of big eggplant fries with flour dough. Taste amazing, crispy on the outside, soft of the eggplant inside, seasoning is on point, balance of salty savory , no complaint at all.
Ikan rica , if you are a fan of a bit spiciness and fish, then this is for you. Fish cook nicely, the rica is so fresh and spicy in a good way, not too spicy for an average like me, but might be too spicy if you dont like spicy at all. Portion are comparable with its price, as the sambal rica dominate the portion instead of the fish.
Ayam ungkep, taste okay, they are soft, savory, portion average, served with 2 sambals
Ikan bakar also amazing, they served it with this tomato sambal on top which complement the dish very well. And the fish portion are bigger than the rica.
Avocado juice is their recommended drink, for me, it's just a typical avocado juice.
The price is very affordable, all total of the above around 200-300K IDR for 5-6 person. I totally would come back here, with it's strategic location, I would probably dine here every time before I...
Read moreThis is some seriously good peranakan sunda food!! Ok, it's given that it's not super traditional sundanese, but hey good is good. First of all, I really like all the vegetable dishes I tried. The karedok is very decent as a karedok should be, and I really like how they mean it when they say it's spicy. All the vegetables are fresh and the spices in the peanut sauces are potent. The genjer cah oncom is out of this world!! They somehow transform it into some dish I'd never expect from the 2 humble ingredients, it's simply a must try. The terong raos is probably one of their best dishes, and seriously fun to eat. The eggplant is battered and deep fried and drizzled with some sweet sauce, making it crunchy, savory but yet light and a bit spicy and sweet. In short, a piece of heaven that get you addicted.
The chicken dishes are pretty good, the buntut is ok-ish, babat is quite good, but the ceker ayam is not to be desired. Overall, the food is super good. And even weirder, they made me excited about their vegetable dishes....
Read moreNever enough to eat sundanese food at this place. Every dish is so satisfying, tastefull, fresh. It's a must to order their signature dish, Terong raos (crispy eggplant with a little bit of caramelized seasoning and sliced salted squid; it's crunchy outside, soft inside, sweet and salty caramelized combine together, PERFECT) & Sambel jengkol (cooked jengkol in lots of sambal). Fried Gurame, Good quality of the fish and well seasoned, dip it in to spicy sweet soy sauce (they put some peanut on top). Don't hesitate to order their food, try as much as you can eat. The place is nice. On peak hour you have to wait in line to be seated. Reasonable price, good portion. Small play area for kids...
