Had a local recommend Jiwa Jawi, place is kinda deep into the forest. Access requires you go up to road hills and sometimes small. Quiet faraway from the main city. Came here during weekdays noon, back then it is rainy cloudy days. A little bit drizzle, gives the place a gloomy dark vibes. Restaurant is like an old Java castle, surrounded by lush green forest. Truly beautiful, rustic old moldy wall, with a sense of mystic. With the drizzle, makes the ambience more mysterious and foggy. They are a semi outdoor space, no aircon so relies on the breeze of the forest, which is already cool and refreshing. Many wild cats surround it, so not sure if it's clean. Obviously many mosquito as well. Access to the toilet and restaurant is not elderly friendly and toilet kinda dirty old.
Food are average, not too bad and not that good either. They serve local Indonesian cuisine. Had the asem2 iga (around 50k) portion are okay, the soup is clear and the sourness taste just a hint, the ribs itself is juicy, easily detach from the bone, sadly the cuisine serve cold, the rice including the soup and ribs as well. The tempe mendoan taste okay, served cold as well. For the price of the food here, is definitely on a higher side for Jogja standard.
Overall, this place offers the ambience and vibes, the food are edible and fine nothing special. It's a nice short trip from the bustling city of Jogja. I don't recommend coming here during 5PM or almost night time, many mosquitos, even though the place is nice to hang around at, but with bugs make it itchy and not...
Read moreI found this place around 2018 from twitter posted by the owner. From that moment, I become a frequent visitor of Jiwajawi whenever I am in Jogja. The place is hidden in the montainouos area in Kasihan Bantul. To find the place is like finding a hidden gem. The area located in the very corner of the street and a bit on the edge.
Once you enter the area, you’ll find a frontyard and big Joglo. Very ethnic ambience. The place surrounded by greenery. They have a dining area in the main building, long table in the terrace balcony, and open space for picnic. If you want to find a place which child friendly this is the right place.
All the menu are reaaallyyy good. All delicious. My favorite all time beverage is “Arjuna” — coffee with coconut milk and jelly — and “Abimanyu” — fruit punch. My favorite food are Ayam Suwir Kecombrang and Sate. I recommend you to try their snacks as well pisang goreng (banana fried) with vanilla ice cream, tahu walik (fried tofu crispy), rujak serut (mix fruit with rujak sauce), and pempek.
The best time to come in here is at 11 a.m. they accept card payment but its better to bring cash. They don’t have wifi and the mobile phone signals also pretty weak. Only XL who can run well there.
So far, I really love this place. So tranquil and...
Read moreJiwajawi Jogja offers a unique dining experience with a blend of traditional ambiance and modern touches. The setting feels warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal while appreciating the cultural elements that surround you. The decor is thoughtfully arranged, creating a relaxing atmosphere that enhances the overall experience.
When it comes to the food, Jiwajawi presents a selection of dishes that highlight local flavors. The taste is enjoyable, though it may not be extraordinary. However, the quality of ingredients and the way the meals are served make up for it. The pricing is reasonable for the experience offered, making it a good choice for those who want to enjoy a nice meal in a well-designed space.
Service is another plus at Jiwajawi, with staff members being attentive and friendly. They are helpful in recommending dishes and ensuring that customers have a pleasant visit. Overall, while the food might not be the most remarkable aspect, the ambiance and service make Jiwajawi Jogja a worthy...
