Garang Asem H. Masduki — Restaurant in Central Java

Recommended by the lady owner of a Batik house in Kedungwuni, i tried the food at this restaurant. Pekalongan has several unique dishes, some of which were ordered and reviewed: Megono (steamed spiced young jackfruit) with rice Garang Asem (spiced sour beef soup) Tauto Pekalongan (fermented bean beef soup) The Megono was savoury and flavorful and well balanced. Very authentic. The Garang Asem tasted fresh with the sour taste from lime while not overflowing the rest of the flavour from the mix of spices in the soup. The beef was soft and well marinated. The Tauto was savoury and also well balanced. It was a satisfactory meal including all senses in the mouth. The only drawback was the mosquitoes but that was a common occurrence throughout the country anyway. Adequate parking for those who drove there and the restaurant was located along the main road. The places are large with so many chairs and tables. Perfect for meeting also There is a space for praying (sholat)

There is a quite large park space up to 10 cars (cmiiw)

Strategic place, in front of National Street (Pantura)

Friendly place for kids also, since it is a large resto.

The prices are well- standard, IMHO

The hospitality is enough - takes time to wait the dish

tried garang asem + cumi hitam + pecel + nasi megana + hot tea.. for those who like spicy food.. the garang asem will fit you.. i thought it would be sour.. apparently it was hot and a bit sour.. ^^ the soup was thin yet the meat was so tender :9 the squid.. hmm it was just way to salty for me.. not a fan.. pecel was hmm.. and it came with group of ants ^^ yet it taste fine.. what makes this place special is the atmosphere.. try to have a seat at the back.. and find the classic traditional wood carving furniture ^^ it has modest prayer room and clean toilet.. parking space was...
