Hip Coffee Artisans — Restaurant in Central Java

I tried this coffee shop on April 11, 2024, the second day of Eid. The owner directly served my order for the omakase-style coffee set menu.

The set menu today consisted of:

Split shot coffee (espresso + piccolo) Hot and cold manual brew Cold brew and coffee mocktail Japanese sweets as dessert

I think it was worth it, as I really enjoyed the coffee and the conversation with the owner and his wife. I highly recommend this slow bar coffee shop around Solo Baru area.

As I read through the reviews of this place, I was confused by some of the 1-3 star ratings, which in my opinion had their expectations mismatched.

Sure, there are coffee shops with different focuses, such as a place to hang out, work, meet, or have your meal. Hippusuta emphasizes more on the coffee drinking experience, where talking with the barista is encouraged, as they can give good recommendations of a coffee menu based on our preferences.

I will definitely go back to this place for my milk-based coffee fix, as the piccolo I had during the omakase session was so well balanced and rich in flavor.

As other reviews pointed out, the parking space was small and the room was not equipped with AC or WiFi. I was fortunate that this good coffee shop is within walking distance from my place.

2022 pernah sekali ke hip rekomendasi dari teman there was nothing wrong with the drink or the place, tapi sebagai orang yang suka baca review suatu tempat ku liat respon ownernya kinda 'nggateli' yakk wkwkwk mungkin bisa jadi sedikit masukan ya kak, kalo ada cust yang kasih review entah baik atau buruk, ambil sisi yang sekiranya bisa membangun bisnismu jadi lebih berkembang, bukan sibuk defensif atau bahkan offensif dengan segala komentar dari customermu sendiri ku liat kalimat mu sungguh sungguh ga enak dan ga pantas disuguhkan dalam konteks profesional ada beberapa responmu mengenai : komen negatif teratas ; ada mbak raymundo (?) yang kamu sebut pengidap OCD dsb lalu ternyata kamu salah ngegas orang komen terkait menu sandwich ; kamu bilang ada di IG story dan customermu males baca blablabla, uh kinda rude komen soal customer menuhin tempat ; ngemocking dan sengaja membuat customermu merasa rendah seolah mereka ga mampu beli

asli, mereka bukan temanmu bisa kamu kasih respon dengan bahasa yang kelewat santai dan bahkan kasar loh, hubungan kita kan sepantasnya customer dan staff (atau owner) dalam konteks profesional aja, harusnya bisa kali lebih filter cara menanggapi masukan dengan lebih profesional lagi jangan sombong kak, jangan merasa kedai kopi anda sudah sangat sempurna tanpa cela sampai sampai jadi anti dan alergi terhadap kritikan di solo sekarang bisnis coffe-shop udah banyak ada dimana mana, kadang customer gak hanya cari 'rasa' aja tapi juga cari kenyamanan, kalo terus merawa jumawa lama lama bakal kabur juga dan berakhir dengan komen 'cukup sekali aja' contohnya ya aku sendiri, udah lewat 3 taun ga pernah balik lagi karena greget yaa liat SDM ownernya kek yang paling savage paling keren se solo raya wkwk better ku ke kedai kopi lain kaya omah loji atau nako yang selain juga fnb mereka juga jual service yang sangat amat ramah, terlebih kalo dikasih masukan secara langsung langsung di terima dan dapat validasi dari managementnya

tambahan : tidak ada yaa kalimat dari aku yang menunjukkan bahwa pedagang lebih rendah dan blablabla, fokus disini adalah respon owner atau mas wahyu yang cenderung offensif terhadap customer, bisa kali kalo respon pake kepala dingin :D btw aku juga kerja di bidang fnb atau pelayanan juga kok mas, tidak perlu merendahkan diri hanya untuk menjadi profesional dalam menangani komplain atau kritikan dari customer salam hangat, semoga...

Found this hidden gem of a coffee shop when I was strolling through Google maps for my bike route. Turns out that it has been around for a while. Well, better late than never!

Coffee is excellent. I ordered my favourite of course, Magic, and it was a great cup. Obviously, the batista was experienced. Price is very, very reasonable too.

The atmosphere was garden café, al fresco with lots of trees & plants. Having said that, being in Indonesia that is an unfortunate thing for me because it means that everywhere is smoking area 🤢. They don't have an air-conditioned room, so no area is free of the smoke of death. Owner, please have an air-conditioned room to the non-smokers.
