Not a place for foreigners.
I do not understand why this place has so many good reviews. Perhaps because only local people without dietary restrictions eat here. Our visit ended in the hospital for myself. I was very careful and detailed when telling the waiter that I am lactose intolerant and can't have milk, cheese and animal based products. After ordering a curry and Gado Gado and explaining every ingredient which should not be inside ( not that complicated if you know what vegan and vegetarian is) he asked me if fish sauce is okay. So we cancelled our dishes and went for a pure orange juice without ice cubes and onion rings without tartar sauce and parmesan cheese. So basically just the onion rings. He repeat the order and everything was fine. First of all the orange juice came with Ice cubes. That was fine. I asked him to remove the ice cubes. But what I got back was a tiny glass instead and a juice mixed with water although I asked the waiter a couple of times if it is fresh because I know that people cheat in Indonesia often. The onion rings came and I almost ate them all after realizing what was left on my plate: grated parmesan cheese. I thought it was the crust at first. I rushed to the waiter and asked them to tell me quickly if this is cheese because if it is I need to have my stomach pumped out. The staff made a big thing and no one came to us and could answer the question if this was cheese. One woman wanted to call the manager and my husband just screamed if it was cheese or not. The initial trainee waiter was suddenly gone. A woman replied yes it was cheese. She said apparently I did not say no cheese. We did not need to pay the bill but this is unacceptable. Upon reading this review the waiter will probably still lie and make up stories that we did not explain him but we talked to him like with a tree to make sure he understand and he even repeated NO CHEESE. Please educate your staff! They need to know about allergies, dietary restrictions, vegetarian food and vegan! They need to know which ingredients are...
Read moreWe arrived at 1 o’clock right before the breakfast menu is cut off. However, the waitress did not get to our table until 20 minutes later I don’t understand why it took so long for them to come over to our table because we were sitting to the service area Which is at the cashier desk. We were in plain sight anyway, the manager was exceptionally accommodating and I was allowed to order an avocado and toast. I forgot they put mayonnaise on top of the avocado mash so I would suggest if you don’t like mayonnaise to ask them not to add it. I also had a salad, which was good, the only thing that bothers me is that they were tables around us who were working on their laptops and just ordering infused water. I thought that was a bit unsettling and unfair of the customer to be allowed to use this restaurant as an office space. However, the management has no problem with it. It has good parking for Car and Motor Bike but it is not handicap accessible. I’ve eaten here twice and I did enjoy my meal. I did have to call the manager on my first time I went there because there was a piece of glass in my salad. They were very concerned and they came back to me 20 minutes later and told me that a container put into corner edge on the bottom it cracked, and that it was not glass but plastic I thought that was very professional that they took the time to investigate wouldn’t happen. So Wait Staff is just OK but the management...
Read moreVisited the cafe today (March 25th) As a Barista myself I came here cause I found out they're using Expat Roaster's beans, which I highly praise for the quality. Kinda let my expectations down, the Barista literally didn't do Expat's beans any justice. Even on an iced americano the over extraction burnt after taste was pretty strong. Wasn't inedible but still was a let-down Brunch food was okay. Although, there's nothing special about it, pretty cheap compared to other coffee shops in Seminyak. What turned me off was the service. Staffs were quite rude, they didn't have any welcoming feel at all. What's worst was that they treated locals and foreigners differently. I do look local and spoke Indonesian while ordering, they certainly weren't friendly at all. Whilst my friend who ordered in English was treated very nicely, staffs were all smiley and welcoming to him. Surely need a big touch up on their service ASAP. Not sure if I'd like to re-visit nor recommend this place to others honestly. Would've given it a one-star if it weren't for their high-speed wifi and pretty interior design.
