We want to taste true Yogyakarta as welcoming lunch. We thought of top of mind food which is Gudeg and also top of mind resturant brand which is Gudeg Yu Djum
For those not familiar with what is Gudeg - do a lil research online. My intrepertation of nasi gudeg is type of dish you will find in every city in Indonesia with different style of side dish but with rice as the main ingridients. Nasi Gudeg is optionally serve with these sides chicken, egg, tempe, jackfruit, spicy skin crackers and others
There is few location of Yu Djum restaurant in the city. We go to the central ones acxording to people it tasted better there. So we go
I enjoyed it. Every side dish tasted so good individually and together. Its fresh and intresting flavoured. Its a midly spicy which is nice. Dont forget to add the white crackers onto the equation. Super yummy

I was waiting for more than 30 - 45 minutes, no one asked me to order. Went to the cashier, we can't order anything because it's to crowded. When we can ordered some foods, we still need to wait. I looked at the other table, they came late, and straight away got the food from the preparation station because he took it and asked the server. It was a mess. Yu Djum's owner or management should learn about the better queuing system from their fellow gudeg place like Gudeg 'Permata', they serve good food and give better queuing system, it's worth to wait because they give the food based on our number, not based on which order receipt that...

One concern I had was the hygiene of the rattan plate, which seemed slightly unclean. I requested a replacement, and the staff was accommodating, but I hope they pay more attention to cleanliness in the future.
Overall, the flavors are great, especially the krecek, and with some improvements in presentation and hygiene, this place could be...
