Great staff and good food but not sure how / why they play such loud music in a farming village (that get up early) until 10pm and later in evening. You can hear throughout village and valley.
On hotel recommendation - I went here twice… first time I changed my food to go as we had to shout at each other and waitresses. I still enjoyed the food back at hotel :) - Squash pumpkin soup, fresh bread, and cookies - yummy. 2nd time - gadogado (no prawn chips?) and sweet potato fries (strange smell from oil used - coconut?) were ok, better gadogado at other restaurants in town… a nice espresso and tasty cookies.
Mentioned noise level to a few waitresses and they seemed to know but not be able to do anything - maybe owner is in band.
The next day on volcano tour… i met a few people that did a early wakeup for volcano sunrise that stayed in hotels near restaurant and mentioned they couldn’t sleep early as music kept going till after 10… and a fellow scooter rider met in bajawa said he was only able to eat there as he had earplugs in his bag :0.
While in restaurant you could see people waiting for pauses in music to have a normal conversation :0... and speaking loudly in each other’s ear during music (like in a disco).
For owner… for the courtesy of your customers, people in your village, nearby hotel guests, and staff… reduce the volume 50%
*such a shame as band was good… but the high volume distorted the sound on the speakers.
Strange that such loud music allowed in a farming village that also benefits (hotels, etc) from tourists that often wake up early for...
Read moreLive music at 7:30pm! Actually a really great band with very great sound for Flores. Good dance floor area too. Mix of local songs, reggae, classic rock, and even some U2 songs. They mix it up nicely and bring other singers up, as they always do on Flores :) I love it.
Food is good and just needs a little more salt or seasoning. Otherwise delicious. Loved the tempeh as always. Chicken curry was good as well and the traditional pisang goreng (pan fried banana with cinnamon honey). Pumpkin potato soup is good too. LOVED the lychee Moke cocktail. Highly recommend getting moke here (local liquor).
Cute vibes and a good mix of locals and tourists. Get there at or before 7 to get your food order ahead of the crowd. Otherwise expect a wait for your food, which is fine with the lovely music and good drinks :) or if you’re a big group (6+), maybe make a reservation or go at or before 7 to make sure you get one of the bigger tables.
Also have great ginger coffee (kopi jahe) in the morning! If you haven’t had ginger coffee you HAVE to try it - sooo good! Did not try breakfast but it looked good...
Read moreSurprisingly this place has a high rate. I went here with my family, waited 1,5 hours to get the whole food. First they served was pumpkin soup for my son, the flavor extremely not like a pumpkin soup, while my son normally not a picky person, then even he didnt wanted to eat that. The pizza written with the handmade tomato local sauce, it ended up with a chemical tomate sauce from the store. The burrito doesnt taste like a burrito. The toki2 drink mixed with lemon sprite and i guess few drops of arak.
My husband ordered a brownies for his brother's birthday as a surprise, turned they SERVED THE BROWNIES THE FIRST ONE BEFORE EVERYTHING CAME AND HANDED TO THE ONE WHO HAS A BIRTHDAY TO ILLUMINATE THE CANDLE BY HIMSELF. what a nightmare after a long trip we had.
The curry, was horrible. I read there is a review written the best curry, seriously she doesnt know what curry is, no taste.
The shot of whiskey they add some water.
Might the staff or chef has a lack information of how the recipe is. They need to be trained more.
