Went here based on a recommendation from a friend, and was not disappointed at all.
First, the service. The waiters and waitresses all respond promptly and are friendly to patrons. Every so often, the restaurant manager would check on the patrons to see how everything is going, which shows how they really care about the overall dining experience.
Second, the food. Ordered a US beef 500-gram sukiyaki platter and was presented with this HUGE plate of sliced beef (including ox tongue!). Even so, the beef was really soft and easy to chew, almost in a melt-in-the-mouth way. The set comes with rice, salad, a bowl of edamame, Japanese-style pickled vegetables, a plate of assorted vegetables (sliced onions, aubergine, paprika, and mushroom), and pudding dessert.
Third, the grilling equipment. Instead of using fire, the radiated heat is emitted from under the grill. This results in less crust on the grill itself, making cooking and flipping the slices of beef easy. In addition, it produces less smoke, which means less worry about getting the smell off of the hair and clothes.
Fourth, the atmosphere. Good for small- or large-group dining. There are two main dining areas, and one of them has a teppanyaki counter. Great for a family dinner and large gatherings and is child-friendly.
Finally, the price. For a total of about IDR 550 thousand, I got a set that comfortably fed a group of 4, added with some sides like miso soup, chawan mushi, and some beer to go with the beef. Personally, I feel like the food, atmosphere, and dining experience are altogether worth the price.
Definitely will come back in the near future. A must-try if you’re in the area and looking for a good...
Read moreTruly a hidden gem in Kelapa Gading! In these days where ayce (all you can eat) deals are popping up everywhere for 99k, some nett some before tax & service, Kobe Tei Kelapa Gading remains true to its pricing and it's easy to see why.
The 'small' yakiniku ayce is 198k++ with 3 different kinds of meat: chuck eye roll, karubi and tongue is a complete package already. It comes with unlimited rice, miso soup, sushi, salad (with yummy Japanese ginger dressing), fritters and desserts! Value for money is amazing considering a plate of alacarte meat is already the same price 198k++. Everything tastes freshly prepared and simply yummy. Make sure you order the next round of meat early as it takes the chef about 5 mnts to slice them up fresh for you.
Located in one of the Gading Kirana ruko (next to Ken Hermawan refleksi), this one is not to be missed. I'll...

I was surprised by the ice ocha, which had a funky smell (like garlic and raw meat).
The ramen was served in a jiggae (Korean) bowl, with Chinese chopsticks and a Chinese ceramic spoon. The soup was very salty and unbalanced, and the meat was full of fatty parts. The egg was nice, though.
The gyoza was okay.
The salad was fresh but topped with an unfamiliar garlic-vinegar dressing.
I also ordered sashimi, but the meat was dry and not fresh.
The waitress was very...
