MVP Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Jakarta

If I could have rated 0 I would have. This might be a long story but hopefully explains my scores.

I arrived at MVP at 6pm wanting to watch a Premier League football match. The front doors were locked although a woman was inside telling me to use another entrance… red flag. 🚩

I then asked a security guard of the hotel behind where it was and he was helpful enough to guide me to the other entrance.

I asked the staff if they would be showing the football match and they said they didn’t have the channel (this is the English Premier League football btw) and that they only showed matches from 8pm. I decided to leave and ask the helpful security guard if he knew of any other sports bars nearby.

He said that they should be showing the game and escorted me in this time and spoke to the staff and they agreed to show the match. I was given a menu to order drinks and ordered a 5 bottle beer deal, however I was sure not to open any until the match was on. 15 mins passed and still no football and kick off had already passed. I then spoke to staff and said I was leaving (via google translate).

When I tried to leave a female member of staff told security I was trying to leave without paying my bill. After another 15 mins of conversation between security, myself and staff I was allowed to leave having done nothing wrong.

I have travelled Asia for 18 months and this is by far the worst service I have ever received. I do not believe this is a legitimate sports bar wanting European tourists/customers.

(Food was rated a 3 because I didn’t order food so I can not rate).

My advice to other people wanting to watch sporting events/games… find somewhere else that values customers and where staff aren’t more interested in being on their mobile phones.

I welcome any response/explanation from management or ownership as to why their establishment was so incredibly...

Overall friendly staff although they keep changing. Customers allowed to sing along so at times the entertainment is not great. Music ok but too loud.

The cashier does not have Rp2000 notes so they will shortchange you when necessary. Eg if your change is supposed to be Rp28000, they will give you only Rp25000. Should they not be the one to bear the loss and give you Rp30000 if they don't have proper change? Of course Rp2000 is an insignificant amount when you spend 100x/200x that amount. But it is the principle...

What a nice place to hang out. Friendly waiters, good service, excellent cousins. Cozies place...
