One of the best Padang restaurant chain in Indonesia, the outlet in Danau Sunter is one of the clear example on how its management tries consistently to establish their brand image and identity.
There will always be debates and bragging rights on which Padang restaurant is the best. But from corporate branding perspective Pagi Sore has been able to place itself as a go-to Padang restaurant for the middle and upper class. The interior design, the food taste and the service quality come together as one big bundle of good Padang culinary experience.
Overall the food were delicious. Some were spicy (beef balado and sambal ijo), some were savory (beef rendang and krupuk siram) and some were rich and tasty (fish curry and beef tendon curry). The only vegetable we had was the steamed cassava leaf (daun singkong).
The beef tendon was really tender and perfectly enjoyed with only the steamed rice, daun singkong and sambal ijo. The dish would look simple, but the combination of different textures and tastes would surely leave an unforgettable impression in our palate memory that will ask to come back for more. And they offer traditional Padang restaurant style called "Hidang" by placing all the dishes on your table and you can choose the dishes you want to consume. Once it's opened, you have to eat it and pay for it. We tried Ayam Pop, Rendang, telur dadar, perkedel and Sambal Ati. Their Ayam Pop (chicken cooked in coconut water and coconut milk) is the best Ayam Pop I ever tried, the sauce is so delicious. Their rendang and sambal ati (chicken gizzard with potato in sambal) are also delicious. Telur dadar (egg omelette) is abit spicy for me and perkedel (fried potato cake) is abit hard. You can add rice as much as u want coz they count the price per person not per portion of rice. Price wise can consider high compared to other Padang Restaurant in Jakarta but it's worth for the quality of the foods, nice service and ambience. Padang food is famous worldwide, so if you want to eat a classy one, this is the place to be.
Even the seats are very comfortable, unlike other similar restaurant which will make you seat on a standard chair. The tables are also fine piece.
With regular Padang style custom, the servers provide lots of dishes with covid-19 Protocol: cling wrapped. Very nice, a bit difficult to open with one hand especially if you use bare hand to eat.
Highly recommended: ayam pop, gepuk sambal merah, jenfkol sambal merah, ayam goreng kremes, daun singkong tumbuk, terong sambal and sayur nangka. The rice is fragrant and juat perdect with the dishes.
Servers are friendly and very speedy.
Price: this is an upscale establiahment, so naturally expect and upscale treatment and price as well. 3 people was around 400K. And hey, ypu got what you pay for.
