Sate Tegal Abu Salim — Restaurant in Jakarta

I'm not sure what the rave was all about. Had goat satay, goat liver satay, nasi kebuli, and goat soup with my wife, and we had vastly different opinion. Contrary to what other people says, the dining place was OK. Parking was.. challenging though.

Now, about the food. Yes, the goat meat itself was tender, juicy, good size, and it wasnt smelly/'prengus', I'll give them that. It also has a very clean aftertaste, none of that guilty/bloated/fatty feeling after the meal, which is good.

However, the flavor was absolutely bland.. no trace of spice whatsoever. The soy sauce and condiments were separately served in a small plate which make it worse, in our opinion, had it been served on top of sizzling satay, mixed with pepper, perhaps it will bring the dish alive.

On top of that, I find it to be a bit pricey, a plate of goat satay will set you back 75K. Which would be perfectly acceptable if it had more flavor. It doesn't, though.

pertama masuk ke restoran aromanya sudah sangat kuat. kita pilih duduk lesehan di dlm ruang yg ber Ac karena di Condet panas banget. nyobain satenya yg legend itu... harga gak boong 1 porsi 90,000 ada yg pake lemak ada yg full daging. Dagingnya besar-besar, lembut dibanding sate kambing pada umumnya. Gak sakit lha ya gigiku yg sensitive ini ngunyahnya, rahang gak pegel.

Yang menarik satenya gak dibumbuin kecap/mentega/minyak pas digrill jadi kamu bisa ngerasain rasa daging kambingnya yg otentik dan clean. Bumbu kecap, sambel, bawang, tomat, jeruk nipis harus kamu racik sendiri. Worthed to try and repuchase utk satenya.

Berikutnya nasi kabsah & nasi kebuli, buat kamu yg gak suka rasa yg terlampau kuat dari nasi rempah ini cocok banget makan di sini, buat aku sih cukup enak... tapi utk keluargaku yg suka bumbu yg kuat kurang cocok. Potongan daging kambingnya dikasih banyak dan besar-besar tapi lagi-lagi tasteless. Enaknya ya harus pakai si nasi dan acar. Untuk porsi sebaiknya yg gak bisa makan banyak 1 porsi utk 2 orang.

Sopnya sangat butek wkwkwk alias full kaldu, tapi gak bikin eneg. Yang suka sop bening kurang cocok sih hehehe aku sukanya yg clearsoup utk bersihin rasa daging-daging ini.

es jeruknya enak lah. pelayanan baik, kamar mandi gak tau deh hehehe. Ditutup dgn beli es krim 10,000 an di kasir depan bikin anak - anak happy.

Harga nasi putih 8000, es teh manis 6000, es jeruk 10,000, sate 90000, nasi kabsah, nasi kebuli n sop lupa gak merhatiin. kalau rame2 harus siap banyak duit lah ya apalagi dobel2 belinya....

Well, the goat satay and the goat curry are really great, it's very delicious and the goat is really tender. It's burned awesomely clean, no black spots. The Arabian-style kebuli/kabsah rice is also pretty good. I think I've never been disappointed by this one, it has always keep its standard. The only problem is that in my opinion, it's overpriced. The price keep increasing and I think it has reached the point of ridiculousness. By the way, it has been renovated and now the parking slot...
