Suka Thai | Pantai Mutiara — Restaurant in Jakarta

I visited this place on Saturday night, 23 May 2021. Not too crowded at that time. My impression, there is contradictive situation regarding this restaurant. The decoration, ambience, food taste are extraordinary. Really cozy place to hang out, it provides several themes for decoration to choose (garden, luxurious indoor, pier). In general, it is an outdoor place, proper for this pandemic era. On the other hand, in contrast, the service is terrible. I assumed that they are lack of staffs communication and time management. I have had bad experience there related that. I and my wife ordered some cuisine, after 20 min I got my meal. But my wife's meal had never appeared. We asked for 3x to different waiters in different occasions. After checking out to the kitchen, they always informed us that the ordered menu was almost finished and ready to be served. But in facts, the food never came after more than 1 h, and after I finishing my meal. Eventually, I reported again this annoying situation to another waiter, he checked to the kitchen. Then he came back with his supervisor to say that our ordered food was not possible to serve because of the lack of ingredients/components they have. It was totally unacceptable, because that problem should be detected much earlier, even after just the order had been made, so we could simply choose the other menu, not wasting our Saturday Night date for waiting for unready food for almost 1.5 h. It showed that the staffs were poor in quality of communication, what a fundamental aspect. Shameful incidence occured in such pricey restaurant like this. In the end, the staff let us alter the menu and they served it quickly. I appreciated the supervisor who came to apologize and took action, although it had been to late to save our dinner time. Taste: nice Service: Friendly staff BUT need to be trained MUCH MORE

I ordered appetizer and RECONFIRMED more than 3-4 times in an hour every 15minutes. My partner had already finished his dish and i still Waited for mine. The waiter just checked and asked me to wait. I kept making sure whether the dish was available. Even one of them said 'almost done, in 1 minute'

Then,after waiting for an HOUR, the PIC of the waiter came and apologize that they couldn't serve what i ordered bcos it wasn't fresh anymore ( thank u for telling me honestly, FINALLY)

They offer us free dessert as a compliment, but NO THANKS. I don't need that. I need u to tell me since the VERY beginning that u couldn't serve that.

When i was about to pay, they gave us the bill printed with the dishes that they couldn't served. WHAT kind of COORDINATION and COMMUNICATION!? Really...

Honestly, I think the food was not okay. The squid they used was not fresh. It has fishy odor. All the food came out that we ordered fell short from our expectation. They charged premium price for the food, but the quality of the food was not there.

Green curry: I am 85% sure that the flavor comes out of packaged ready to cook green curry. I can taste the artificial coconut taste. I know for sure because apparently I had the experience to cook with packaged ready to cook green curry.

Tom yum: squid was not fresh. Pungent odor. Soup was too watery and lack of flavor. Might be come out ready to cook package as well.

Tom yum fried rice: wet fried rice. Seriously!?

Pad that: standard. Many thai restaurant serves better.
