Kembang Desa — Restaurant in Jambi

Located in the Jelutung area, Jambi City. As the very Indonesian name suggests, the food menu at Kembang Desa Jambi is Indonesian cuisine. As soon as we entered we were immediately greeted by the cashier. Yes, it is indeed a cashier's hut, not just a cashier's desk because it is decorated in the shape of a saung. Then there was a waiter who greeted us.

Here the waiters even dress in very Indonesian clothes. For women, they wear kebaya with batik cloth. Meanwhile, the men wear Malay clothes complete with batik sarongs and Jambi tracksuits. The interior also has a rustic feel, with each table decorated with huts, giving the impression that guests are eating in a hut near the rice fields. There are also decorative rice dishes on the walls, and there is a rickshaw parked in the corner of the room. The point is that once you enter, guests are invited to eat in a beautiful rural atmosphere. The Kembang Desa restaurant has two floors with the option of eating at tables and chairs and there is also a lesehan concept.

There are many Indonesian menu choices here. But when you open the menu book, the first thing you see is the Nasi Campur Complete Kembang Desa menu, namely rice with side dishes of grilled chicken, satay, tempok orek, vegetables and chili sauce. In accordance with the concept, here they sell Indonesian food menus such as fried chicken rice, grilled chicken, shrimp/fish pindang, fried/grilled fish, betutu chicken rice, taliwang chicken, liwet rice, various fried rice, fish pepes, and many more. For drinks, apart from the standard ones such as iced tea/orange ice, here there are various types of ice such as cendol ice, sweet banana...

Food is great overall however provided with small portion, not quite comparable with the price.

Staffs and waiters are friendly, very accomodating.

Atmosphere can be improved as some part of the restaurants are humid/hot and the AC focuses on certain parts only. There are sometimes loud customers during dinners that tramp on the floor or hit your chairs when dining so there’s room for improvements.
