OTARU Restaurant — Restaurant in Jepara

Honestly, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, and for 270,000 IDR, it was a complete rip-off.

The rice was almost cold, dry, and absolutely flavorless, as if it had been sitting around for hours. Not even a sprinkle of sesame seeds for a touch of life.

The chicken schnitzel had zero seasoning no salt, no pepper, nothing. Just bland meat on a plate. The sushi was no better: completely tasteless. The only thing that saved it from being pure cardboard was the soy sauce, which at least gave some kind of flavor.

The one and only positive note: the curry. It was actually well seasoned and tasted decent. Credit where it’s due – but sadly, one good dish cannot make up for an overall failure.

the kicker is that I can go to a simple warung right around the corner and get a huge plate of tasty mie goreng plus a refreshing es teh jeruk for only 20,000 IDR. That’s ten times cheaper, and it’s infinitely better. (Compared to the price/Quality relation)

This restaurant is such a gem in the middle of Jepara. As tourist, I visit the city from time to time and get tired of the traditional food. Otaru provided a sanctuary for weary travelers like me and my husband. The place is comfortable and air conditioned, no loud music, and has homey ambiance. The food was amazing. We had chicken katsu, sushi rice, and salmon sushi roll. The portion is bigger than what I normally expected from a restaurant, it was as if I was eating homemade food. The chicken katsu is freshly made, not frozen or processed. The crumbs were perfect not soggy and the chicken is well seasoned. The sauce tastes like original tonkatsu sauce. Tempatnya ada di kanan jalan jika dari arah panggang, lokasinya sekitar depannya Sasana Jepara.

Tempat parkirnya cukup untuk 10-15 motor. Mungkin kalau bawa mobil parkirnya di pinggir jalan. Tidak ada biaya parkir.

Tempatnya bersih dan nyaman, terdiri dari meja dengan 4-6 kursi, ada tempat indoor dan outdoor, indoor di lengkapi dengan AC. Ada meja panjang juga, jika ingin makan bersebelahan menghadap jendela.

Pelayananya sangat ramah, baru kali ini pergi ke tempat makan dan mendapati pelayangan sebaik ini, sampai ditawari refill minuman (kebetulan kami pesan teh ocha), menu di antar ke meja. Alas piring, gelas, sendok dan sumpit di tata di meja saat ada pelanggan (dimanjakan dengan pelayanannya). Sistemnya pesanan makanannya di tunggu oleh waiters.

Makanannya enak dan meninggalkan kesan mendalam. Tadi saya pesan washoku wing, nasinya di sajikan hangat, dengan sayap ayam yang manis gurih dan terdapat potongan cabe tetapi tidak membuat rasanya menjadi pedas. Sayapnya renyah tapi di balut dengan bumbu yang rasanya pas. Baru kali ini saya makan washoku wing dan sangat terkesan dengan rasanya....
