Not sure why the reviews are so high for this Warung. The food is average and the service was mediocre at best. We usually have light lunches and came here after a long hike with our 3 young kids. We ordered the fried noodles and fried rice and 3 watermelon juices to share. We asked for no spice but all the food had large pieces of spicy peppers. The juices came and we asked for an extra glass so my 4yo could split the juice. The server hesitated and seemed annoyed. First time ever in Bali that someone seemed annoyed since we have been splitting juices for weeks at different places and no one seems to mind. We were sharing the light lunch and asked for extra plates for the kids to get some food. Again, he seemed annoyed. As if we should have ordered 5 different entrees instead, which would have been a waste with small kids. The juice was warm, which was disappointing after trekking. My husband asked for ice and he said he didnât have any. Ten minutes later, we overheard another table say the juice was hot and then they asked the waiter for ice and he said ok. Wait. I thought they had none. And then we saw the same server come out and give this woman a full glass of ice. When my husband confronted him about why he suddenly had a whole glass of ice for the one womanâs watermelon juice and none for our 3 orders of juice, he said he needed to save it for others. WHAT?! Makes no sense. We reminded him that we asked for ice and he told us he didnât have it and then how he served the woman a lot of ice right after. He just said sorry. And then said he only had that much ice that he gave the woman, which he could have given us instead of lying and saying he had no ice. Terrible service for hesitating to give us cups, extra forks, and plates and lying to us about ice. Maybe itâs because the other woman was a white tourist and we are brown. Iâm not sure but there is no other logical reason.
The food is mediocre at best. It wasnât bad but thereâs nothing special about it.
There is barely a view bc there is construction going on. There is a sink to wash hands but no soap.
Skip this place and walk the extra 2 mins to...
Read moreWOULD NOT GO BACK AND DO NOT RECOMMEND! Our family went for lunch. We ordered a few entrees to share and 3 watermelon juices. The server got upset and rolled his eyes when we asked for plates and extra glasses so we could share some with our young children. Are you kidding me - we have shared every meal in our month in Bali and never once had this response??? The watermelon juices came warm not even room temperature in the sweltering afternoon heat. When we asked for ice, he told us they had no ice. Not 10 minutes later, a women next to us asked for ice for her warm watermelon juice and received a heaping cup of ice. When I confronted the server, he told me they only had a little ice and needed to save it for "other customers." We ordered Nasi Goreng and Mie Goreng and asked for it to be not spicy for kids - both came too spicy for them and mediocre at best. It seemed the server was upset that we didn't order 2 entrees for each of us including kids. I see all the amazing reviews here which is why we came but this had to be the most underwhelming meal we have had in our one month of traveling and eating around Bali. On top of that, the view is currently taken away with construction and constant cigarette smoke from the construction workers. Needless to say, we will not be...
Read moreWe came here because of the good reviews and weren't disappointed. The little restaurant was right on the rice field. You can do a little walk around and was lovely. It's a little family run warung with Balinese dishes (no carbonara and pizza!!) the parents were the host and the cook. Their children were polite and helpful with simple orders and delivering dishes.
The curry was mild and full of vegetables. My kid loved it and ordered a second one after. We were glad to have the Balinese pancake as dessert. It wasnât too sweet and was just right.
I like how simple and genuine the warung was. It's quiet, small and just lovely right next to the rice paddy. It made us appreciate rice even more. Not a single grain was left.
Through chatting, we learned very briefly that the family was stressed about one of their children. He had been sick for a long time now.
We paid a bit more. Just a small gesture to show our appreciation to a great dining experience, as well as our...
