Bun and Patty — Restaurant in Kuta

So the first thing I notice, was that the menu seem to stick with the "small but refined" approach, aiming for a limited but carefully crafted selection of food items (namely burgers, but that's a given). Food items are given descriptions that helpfully list down the ingredients used in each menu item, allowing you to make a more informed decision when choosing what you want to eat.

The food? Excellent. Chef's kiss, 5 stars all around. I ordered a Salt-Style Beef Burger, and I dunno what kind of salt they put in that thing, but the salty taste mixed among the sauces and other toppings in the burger made for a wonderful dining experience. The burger also isn't constantly at risk of having its contents spilling out when you bite it, which is a huge pet peeve I have with many big 'burgs, and the fillings are flavorful enough to be strongly savored in between the buns. And the loaded fries, dios mio, y'all NEED to get a taste of these loaded fries. I'm normally not the biggest fan of "wet" chips/fried side dishes because I find that the sauces/toppings end up soggifying (is that even an actual verb? Well, it is now) most of the fries/nachos/fried crispy finger foods it's slathered onto, and most of the time, the flavor combo feels a tad... forced. Like the toppings and the chips were joined in a nonconsensual matrimony because the powers that be wanted to arrange a loaded chips marriage and didn't consider how well the chips would even get along with the toppings, and it results in a dish that sounds nice in theory, but often falls flat in execution. But this one? I'm still unsure what sorcery they used to keep the fries relatively crispy despite being smothered in (checks notes) a mix of Mexican Chipotle, spicy mayo and BBQ sauce, but whatever those fries are, I demand to know the recipe that resulted in this level of crisp. I also enjoy the sauce selection here more compared to other versions of loaded chips. Maybe it's because of my mayo/Chipotle bias, but either way, this might just be my new baseline for how to make a good freaking loaded chips dish. Smoky, sweet and salty all balanced in just the right doses, sprinkled with sliced shallots, bacon bits, and a few small slices of good ol' American cheese. My only minor gripe is that the cheese wasn't melted, but I personally compensated by tossing the things into my burger for an additional cheesy kick.

Far as nitpicks go, the drink selection is a tad limited aside from your average arsenal of carbonated can drinks (Fanta, Sprite, Soda Water). Also not many parking spots, but hopefully it won't be too much of a problem considering it's meant to be a small-scale establishment. Still, if you ever find yourself eating here while there's a lotta people around, you might wanna consider finding alternate parking spots. The restaurant goes for a cozy, American-style diner and succeeds with its execution, with posters of its various menu items on the walls and an open-style kitchen that lets you witness the cooking process in all its glory. The food is flippin' fabulous, and if that's all you really care about in a burger place, you could do a lot, LOT worse than this humble joint. Honestly, I'm surprised it was kinda quiet, but I certainly didn't mind the lack of noise. if anything, that's an extra plus for an introvert like me.
